Requirements for dining packages (when available again)

When dining packages come back, do you have to purchase park passes on your resort ressie or can you buy your park passes from another source? Is there a minimum night stay or days of park passes required if park passes have to be included?

The Disney Dining Plan may only be purchased in the form of a Disney vacation package which includes a Disney resort stay, theme park ticket (or annual pass), and the Dining Plan. A minimum three-night stay is typically also required.

AP holders and DVC members can add on free dining to a room only reservation.

Can't speak to how it might work going forward, but can tell you what we did last year. Had a room reservation and the regular dining plan. Our park tickets were purchased separately since the company where I work offers a discount on tickets.

Pre-covid, anybody could book a ticketless package, which is just the room and a dining plan. It had to be done by phone, and was subject to the package terms, conditions, and cancellation. Three part package with tickets was only mandatory for "free" dining promotions.

If/when dining plans come back, ticket less packages may or may not exist.

You can reference the dining details within Disney's vacation planning site today. I mention this as while their not offered, you can still reference them, which is a good thing. If their intent was to redesign the details of the plan they could have easily removed the content from their site. Of course, removing content from their site is rather easy to do, lets hope the dining plan remains intact or is improved to attract customers back to the parks, which aligns to the history and the rise of the dining plans

This has never been my experience. We have added the dining plan to a single night stay with no park tickets on the resort reservation (we are not APs; we were just staying a single night before a cruise and got a hard ticket to a Christmas party)—you can’t do it online but if you call and ask for a ticketless package you can get room and dining plan without park tickets for any length of stay.

The only minimum purchase requirements we have seen are that everyone staying in the room must purchase the the dining plan, and it must be for the length of the resort reservation.
