Requests

I made my first ressie a few weeks ago and told them my only request was non-smoking and I would leave the special views for those that really want it. Since I will have a short stay (4 days) and don't plan on being in the room that much.

Then I thought, maybe I should have requested more and held off for just the non-smoking.

With all that said, my question is:

What is your approach when making requests, ask for the minimal, or ask for anything you can think of?

We generally request everything we may want, but put the obviously critical ones at the top, such as non-smoking. We have never gotten all our requests, be we generally get the first one or two - someday we will get the boardwalk view. ;)

For OKW our top 3 requests in order of importance are.....
1.Non smoking
2.Top floor
3.Near HH
We usually get all 3 when we book at 11 months.:D

We request Non smoking and NOT a handicapped room. If we have more than one room, we ask they be in the same general area. I think those that place 5 or 6 requests and get too specific are doing themselves and the other members a disservice in the long run.

I usually make no requests either. Having stayed in just about every location there is and never being dissapointed, I have requested Turtle pond area a couple times, but don't even do that anymore.

I don't know if there are fewer handicap GVs or if they are always taken by those that need them, but we have never gotten one. I am not sure how it differs from a regular unit, maybe the first time I get one I will start requesting to not have one.

I also think the number of requests people put in can get silly. I was standing at check in once when someone was in front of me asking for a different room. They had a list of room numbers and were willing to spend their first day or two in the assigned room, but wanted to be switched to a room on their list....since their list was on their requests, they felt that the room change fee was not warranted. These people had checked in earlier in the day, we were in line for five minutes behind them, we got called to another station, they were still there arguing and complaining when we walked away after checking in.

Who pays for that labor?

We all do.
