My friend and I are in attractions & are wondering if there is a polite way to request certain attractions? Mine are Tower of Terror, Rockin' Roller Coaster, Toy Story Mania, Test Track, Mission Space, Space Ship Earth or any major attraction in Hollywood Studios or EPCOT. Basically I do not want to work in Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. So what is the best was to request were you want to work?

Please note that openings at specific Attractions/Work Locations is based upon the determined labour needs of the areas.

I'd definitely say to the interviewer that you'd *like* to work in Epcot or Hollywood studios if at all possible.

Always keep it positive.

None of us actually got recruiters this semester. Would you recommend that we email the main recruiting email instead?

Yup! That's exactly what I did yesterday and they said that they'd put it on my file that I have a preference.

When I got attractions, I really wanted MK. I put two preferences for MK rides and when I checked online (I already had Hub access), I had gotten Animal Kingdom. I was really upset and almost cried. However, I loved it. The hours are amazing (the latest we were open was 7:30), I got a really great attraction, and I had a lot of free time to go to the parks at night. The downsides are that you work early (usually in no later than 1pm), it's far from the apartments, and costuming isn't at the park. Despite all that (and not having a car!), I enjoyed it thoroughly. Two of my roommates got DHS attractions and loved those too. EPCOT attractions didn't interest me at all though..

Do we have any success stories from people who HAVE requested a position and received it?

i was told my an alumni that emailing them is the best way since we dont have recruiters this year and the people we call are just middlemen, they dont really have an authority.

so i wrote an email but i was just wondering what the best thing to put in the subject would be?

Me! When my recruiter was asking about the roles I had checked off and I was talking about why I wanted to do attractions, I said that as a theater major I would really like to do a high-spiel attraction. She said something like, "I can put down that you'd be comfortable doing that, but I can't really promise you anything. Is there an attraction in particular you'd like...?" and i was like "AHHHHHH JUNGLE CRUISE!!!!!!!!!!!" (I think I might have scared her a little, actually, haha.) Once I found out I was accepted in attractions I was mentally preparing myself the entire time to get everything except Jungle, because I figured getting a request was such a long shot, but sure enough, that's where they put me! I think you have a higher chance of getting put at spieling attractions if you request them, though, because a lot of people don't like talking in front of large groups...

i mentioned during my interview that i'm very comfortable talking in front of people and i have theater experience so hopefully i'll have that same luck!

Good to hear that some of you got your requests. My cousin is applying for Fall 2010, and he SO has his heart set on Haunted Mansion. He's a freak when it comes to that attraction...knows the whole history, collects all the merchandise. It would make his life to work on that ride!

Gah, unfortunately from what I've heard, Mansion is one of the most frequently requested attractions for CPs :P Someone who worked with me at Jungle was on her third CP and had requested Mansion every time; they got her as far as Ad/Lib twice (Adventureland & Liberty Square, which are managed together), but she got placed at ATT (Aladdin's Flying Carpets, Tiki & Treehouse) and, obviously, Jungle. I've heard that how it works is that the CP can specifically put you in an area, but not a specific attraction -- that's up to WDW Casting, and it just depends on where they need people at that time. That's not to say that he wouldn't get Mansion, but, you know.

Sorry for the novel, but knowledge is power! Or something. lol.

I put attractions as my main request and want Kilamanjaro Safaris. I'm completely prepared not to get it, but I think it would be such a fun ride to do! Long narrations aren't a big deal as long as I have a few days to get it down. Haunted Mansion would be fun, but like you guys said, it's one of the most requested. Who knows, I like the element of mystery!

I was accepted for SA 09 in hospitality and I had emailed my recruiter to request Saratoga Springs, Old Key West or the Polynessian since those 3 were my favorite resorts and since Saratoga was my home resort with DVC...

she said she put the request in my file but nothing was guarenteed...

the day i found out my work location (SSR) i was THRILLEDDDDDDDDDDD

it wasn't until training that I learned I would be working at BOTH SSR and OKW as they are considered sister resorts and they are right next door to each other!!!

SO i guess you can say I had a success story getting 2 / 3 of my requests haha!!

It is always a request, though. However I would definitely recommend emailing if you have a certain preference!! You never know what might happen!!

Good Luck!!
