Requesting that separate reservations be placed close together?

Hello!

I am visiting WDW in late September with a large group. We have 12 in total; 4 separate reservations. This is the first time that I will ever be vacationing with people who have their own reservation - my other trips consisted of a single reservation.

I do plan to call WDW directly in early September, to try and see if we can request that the 4 reservations be placed in close proximity to each other when the rooms are being assigned.

Has anyone had experience with this? Is this something that is done frequently, or should I be anticipating that this cannot be accommodated?

Whether they can place us all close together in the preferred rooms at the All-Star Music or not, we are looking forward to a magical vacation - I just have 3 other parties that have never been to WDW and want to stick close if possible!

Thanks for any advice/input that you can give me!

We did it last year at AS Sports, we had 3 separate reservations, ended up with 3 rooms in a row. We all had to make the request to Disney, that way they know all the reservations are on the same page.

We requested and had 3 rooms in POFQ in a row. Last year we asked to be close to my parents and they were next door. Call and ask them to " link" the two reservations, they will actually give you a confirmation number for it ( keeping your reservation numbers separate still)

That's perfect! Thank you both so much - I will make sure that we are all together when I place the call, and get them to link everything together. Wouldn't be a trip-breaker if we hadn't been able to do it, but it will definitely make things easier!

You don't all need to be there when you call to link all the reservations. You just need all their reservation numbers and names.

Just a heads up it doesn't always work out, I tried to do this last year at the BC (we had three rooms, all separate reservations, but we are all family so we wanted to be nearby to each other). I called and wa told that our rooms were linked together and that should keep us in close proximity to each other and just to be sure I also requested connecting rooms with at least one of the other rooms. None of those request were able to be meet and originally we weren't even given rooms in the same area/floor. After going back to the front desk and asking if there was any way we could be a little closer together one of the rooms was switched (the next day, since they said they couldn't move us that day) and that put us all on two hallways but at least on the same floor.

The same thing happened to us at the Contemporary, we were on different floors and they couldn't move us at all our entire stay so we just went with it that time since it was a shorter trip.

So when we go with more of our family even though we do call and try to link the reservations they aren't always able to keep you close together.

We have done this. I am not sure how as I did not make the reservations, but we had 5 rooms in a row, all on the first floor, at POFQ once for a family event. Everyone had their own reservation. This was about 4 years ago.

Our experience of having many rooms (large family trips) were great and almost directly in a row at POFQ and Wilderness Lodge. We have never had any luck at Yacht Club the last two years with being close to one another. So maybe certain resorts are better at assigning rooms together than others? Not sure. I agree it's not always a dealbreaker but it is nice and we have my elderly mother alone in her own room so we do like to keep her close.

last year we asked for 2 rooms near each other at ASMU..... what a mess. It took over an hour to check in....(yes,a full hour+)eventually we ended up next door to each other, but given the number of empty rooms all around the resort I fail to see why it was so complicated at checkin. hope it goes well for you OP.

I requested rooms near one another & main floor (POR). We got the rooms next to one another, but not the main floor. Win some/lose some! ☺️

So I guess it can go either way - thanks everyone, for your different experiences! At the end of the day, where our rooms are won't have a tremendous impact on our vacation (no matter what, we'll be in WDW!!!), but I will definitely keep all of the above in mind when I call in and link up the reservations.

We're not fussed about what location our rooms are, so it will be our only room 'request'. If it's granted - fantastic! If not, it just means that we'll get to explore a little bit more of the resort while we go visit each other.

Win-win for us!

You can go ahead and add the request/link your reservations now - there's no reason to wait until the beginning of Sept.
