Requesting DAS ride selection and then temporarily leaving the park

We've pre-registered for DAS and did the 2 advanced selections, woohoo! I'm planning out our day, and I'm wondering what happens if I use DAS to get a return time for RoTR at say, 1pm, and then I return to my hotel for a few hours. My hope is if I come back to the park at 4pm, my time will have already come up and I'll be able to ride immediately.

But - I'm not sure if DAS day of selections would clear out if I leave the park, and I'll need to re-request once I scan back in. Any experience with this?

I am NOT a DAS user. But I am very glad Disney has this system to help everyone enjoy the parks.
Disney has DAS to help keep the line times short for DAS users.
Structure... Crowd Control... Organization...
If you get an assigned return time, plan to be at the attraction at the assigned time.
If the 1pm time is not going to be convenient because you are taking a hotel break at that time, let the CM know and try for a DAS time that is good for you.
Another DAS user might be able to use the 1pm time if you are not going to be back into the parks until 4pm or so.
Have a fun trip and enjoy the parks!

They don’t. With the DAS day of selections it’s to return at anytime after the time they give you. You just can’t get your next selection until you’ve used the active one or canceled it.

I am not a DAS user, but I do not believe your selection will be cancelled when you leave the park. There is no sensible reason for this to happen. I would assume you can make a DAS selection for a ride in one park and then if you have a parkhopper pass visit the other park while waiting for your time to come up. I don't think Disney cares where you are waiting for your time to come up, just that you are waiting your turn. That's how Maxpass used to work and presumably Genie+ works now, so I would think DAS works the same way.

Geemo, the op is saying they would sign up for their RotR DAS around 1 PM and then hope the ride return time would be around 4 PM when they want to return to the park not that they would be trying to use a 1 PM return time at 4 PM though I think they just ride the ride sometime after whenever the return time happens to be. Fwiw, the last time we had virtual queue for RotR, our window expired but we were still able to ride it after that time (we had an unavoidable circumstance that prevented us from making the window so thought we would try half an hour afterwards anyway), so there is still some flexibility on return times. I have no idea if that is when the return time would be for op in such a scenario; they are just making a guess about when their return time might be and wondering where they are allowed to wait for that return time to come available.

None of my virtual queues or any electronic passes have ever cleared when I leave the park, also many guests park hop over to DCA or Downtown Disney (same as going to hotel for a midday break) and come back. Your selections should stay active all day.

I have not used DAS since the new system launched. But previously when requesting return time via Guest Services there was no issue with exiting and re-entering the park with a DAS return time still being active on the app. You can hold it until you use it or cancel it (or the park closes). This is actually quite necessary for my kiddo as he needs to take frequent breaks. He would often ask to get a return time and then want to just wait that time out at the hotel (which is why stay as close as possible).

You'll be fine. We booked a DAS for Mr. Toad on Tuesday. When we went to redeem it the ride was down temporarily. My son was upset and we were SOAKED from the rain so we went back to our hotel to warm up and calm him down. When we came back that night the DAS was still in there and good to go!
