We are staying at the Disney Land Hotel from Dec. 29 through Jan. 3rd and are staying in a lower pool view room. I've heard Sierra Tower is the best in terms of location - is this true? Can a request a certain tower and what number would I call?

Thanks

thats the tower i was in... i thought it was pretty good... i mean any 3 of them are good there really isnt too much of a walk to the Monorail station....

I agree that the Sierra is the best tower. We stayed there just after Thanksgiving in 1999 near the top level. It was great hearing the carolers strolling and singing about the grounds when we opened the sliding glass door in our room (overlooking the pool).

As an aside... we were put in the old building (overlooking the front entry & parking lot) and we hated that building. We were in a bedroom that was so tiny there was barely room for the bed they had in there.

I have stayed in both Bonita and Sierra tower and much prefer Sierra for the convenience. We had pool view and loved it. Have heard that Theme Park/DTD view can get loud since they always have bands playing in DTD - especially at Holiday time.

We just returned, and even though I booked for Christmas back in August, they said they couldn't guarantee room locations, or even beds. We wanted the one queen and bunk beds at the GC. When we got there, they said they didn't have any rooms left with bunk beds. The CM looked again and found us one, thank goodness, since these are our favorite.
I just booked a trip for this coming May, and even though we booked a suite this time, they still said they couldn't guarantee the type of room...only a one bedroom. We requested a room with 2 queens, but could end up with one with a king. I guess I'm used to the way Disney Cruise Line books, first-come, first-served, and you know your room number from the time of booking. Seems like it would be easier if they reserved a room when you booked, and held it. But no one asked me for my opinion.....although I did give it to them this time! ;)
