I want to stay at CSR but there only 3 buildings that i want to stay in. We're planning 10/08. If I put in a request when booking, are the chances good that i'll end up where i requested? If the chances are slim, i would probaly consider a smaller resort. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thank you!!

I think if you list the three locations, in order of importance, on your original ressie, your chances of getting one of the buildings is very high. The problems come in when people request one specific buliding with a specific room number and things like that.

Your chances are very high. As mentioned, put your building request in the order of importance to you. Disney will take the first request and try to fill it. If they can't they move to the second request, etc. So if your request is just to be in building 1, or if not available, then building 2, or building 3 would be fine as well, you should get one of those three buildings.

But if you ask for Building 1, first floor, on a corner, close to the main pool but far away from the food court (an impossibility at Caribbean Beach), with a view of a rose bush, then you will only get your first few requests.

Every time I have stayed at POFQ we requested building 4, and we have gotten it every time. When DH and I went on our honeymoon, I read they will try to honor one of your requests. We had requested bldg 4, king bed, and ground floor. We were given bldg 4 and a king bed. I just made sure to double check when I called to confirm our reservations a few weeks out that each request was still on our reservation.

Please be aware that October is becoming more and more popular. My only request at POR this last October was a room in the Alligator Bayou section. A pretty easy request, right? I did not get it! :sad1: The CM at the desk said the resort was full, and they only had Manison rooms left. This is the first time I have been placed in the Mansion section, and I was very disappointed.

If your trip would be ruined if you are not placed in one of the three building you have picked, you might want to choose another resort. Of course, you could always check in, and if you don't like the building, ask to be moved.

Remember that requestion something does not mean you will absolutely get it. Just be ready to roll with it if you don't get placed where you want to be.

On our latest WDW trip (Feb 07) to CSR we sent in a request for Cabanas (having stayed in Casitas and loved it:banana: ) we wanted to try something different. We were placed in Cabanas 9B but out by the parking lot:sad1: ! We asked for something better but they were booked. The room was nice, but not great:confused3 . I don't know if a request for a certain room would be honored, but the CM's go out of their way to get you the building you want.

Good luck!!!:thumbsup2

It doesn't hurt to make a request, just remember it's not guaranteed. If you think getting assigned to a different building will ruin your trip then I would pick another resort.

I usually make a request but don't expect anything- that way if I get it I am pleasantly surprised. On my last trip I requested my favorite longhouse, Fiji, at the Polynesian. They were full when we got there so we got Rarotonga and it was awesome

I think your chance of getting in one of those 3 buildings is very high, but like everyone else said, cant be guaranteed. Of course, the earlier you check in, the better your odds =)

I almost never bother with requests, since it never seems to make any difference in what room I get. Doesn't matter if I make requests when booking, or when I am standing there checking in, I always seem to get whatever room the computer randomly spits out. The CMs seem to have no knowledge of my requests, or if they do, just don't try to bother to fill them. Even if I politely ask about getting a request, I am always told "we're full, nothing we can do" or "give the room a try". How many times I have heard that! :confused3

I always read here on the DIS about everyone always getting their requests, or getting upgrades, etc. But someone has to be in the farthest room in the farthest corner near no bus stop, food court, or pool (and that would be me  ). So requests are never guarenteed, so be prepared for that possibility!

On the same lines as OP...is it more important to make the request in advance or check in earlier? That is which one is more likely to get a desired room?

cheers,
:santa:
