But how are the mods to determine what is idol chit chat and what is not? I posted a question the other day on the CBR thread, and to most it might have seemed like idol chit chat, but to me, it was an important question. I think I agree that this leads to censorship to a degree.

I totally agree with you in that what may seem minor to some could be important to others. This is why we all come to these boards for help and advice.

I have started threads many times and love the fact that at times I get alot of responses and I read each and every single one of them.

The moderators cannot just wipe what they think may be idol chit chat because again, it may not be considered that to others.

I think the moderators do a great job and it must be very hard to sit and read everything and make sure they are in their proper topic area. They are only volunteers and if we didn't have them I can imagine how out of hand these boards could get so we should be thanking them.

To all the moderators----thanks for doing a great job and keeping this board running the way you all do.:thumbsup2

I agree safetymom and the others do a wonderful job here on this board! :thumbsup2

No, I am saying leave that post as is and start a NEW one with only the updated information, pics and updated FAQ's.

I just posted right above a nice compromise to the issue. If the webmasters made a new section for reviews only it would help out.

I understand the nature of some questions are going to lead to chit chat. At the same time, the 50 responses to a pic someone posted can be difficult to get through. But with this new system I am talking of, the chit chat can finally lead to a solid answer and the mods can take the question and the final answer and put those in the new FAQ leaving out all of the comments.

This place is a wealth of information, it just needs to have some updated organization.
EXP: there could be really good information on a hotel going through refurb. People deciding what hotel to stay at might not want to stay at a place with construction going on. The information on this refurb may be on page 239 of the FAQ's. For someone starting the FAQ thread for the hotel they are trying to decide on may only get to page 45 before they give up on their search for info and totally miss the updated information about the refurb.

Hands down this place has the best updated information ... its just close to impossible to find it.

The OP was not questioning that, they do a fine job. The OP was/is just looking for a FAQ thread with pertinent info without having to sift through tons of other info. An easy answer is to lock the FAQ threads once new ones are created.

Nobody was questioning the job the moderators do, we were just saying what a good job they do and to remember that because it can't be easy sifting through all the treads, especially when they aren't being paid to do it.

I totally agree, once the original OP gets the info they are looking for they should close it. It's very easy to always start up another one.

Try allears for a FAQ, there's are excellent and always updated. I think it'd be a great idea here too but doesn't seem to be in the cards.

I LOVE this site and I am frequent poster on the FAQs thread of GF. With that being said, I also LOVE AllEars. They have more than just the rate and review section. If you go under there Accomadation section, on the left hand side there is every Disney hotel with a Facts sheet and either a slide show or list of pictures that you can look at. They are very good about updating with refurbished room pics, lobby, and pool pics.

I have to say that I was just talking yesterday with a fellow disser about starting a new FAQs thread but again, it is so time consuming. When I started at the GF FAQs thread, I loked at the dates and knew it was outdated so I went to the summer of 07 and started there. I found the info that I needed and it was because of the chit chat. Yes, I will admit that some of my posts are a little off topic, long winded or repeat info but to someone that has just come on, it is new info.

Check the dates and like Kelly said go backwards.....

Yes I think that sometimes we forget to look at the parent site...wdwinfo, to find the answers to the questions we have. Many times we just ask a question on the board that is already answered on wdwinfo!

Same thing here. :thumbsup2

IF you want info facts and pictures go to the Disney website or one of the ones that has sections with exactly those things and not forums with questions and responses. a sealed fact thread is ok but don't start censoring the regular threads. .

If you want facts and pictures go to top of the page here and click on resorts, or click on pictures, or dining they are all rght there.

wel, maybe someone just needs to strat a new thread of FAQ for each resort and take all the new info from each day as the posts grow and add it into the original post. The moderators won't have to lock it - ever and we can still chat about it but all the new info would be posted into the first original post. It would be up to each person who started that thread to amek sure it stayed updated and the inof didn't get lost 500 pages down the line. If it gets done daily or weekly it could be done.

I could pick a resort and start doing it. I'll do AKL/AKV's.

we are starting a new GF thread so it will have no info and pics and that stuff and people can still chat about the GF but wont have to wade thru 500 pages.

Kelly I just took a good look at it and its exactly what I was looking for!
I was able to have DH read all about the resort, the updated info and pics without having to go through all the other posts. Thanks a million!

pryxtc: Great start on your AKL thread! I'll be there in December, if there are specific pictures you want, let me know.

I know that when I plan to stay somewhere I start at the end of the FAQs because so many of them were started years ago. The person who started the thread isnt always around to update the info.
I think if you are finding yourself weeding thru alot of info post a question about what you are looking for and most likely someone will have that info and tell you where the post is that can help you.

That is what I do. I start at the end and if I cannot find what I am looking then I ask. No one has ever complained that the question has already been answered earlier.

I keep all the important info, links , & updated info on the first page of my All Star Family Suites FAQ thread. The other posts are more about guests comments and helping other guests with any concerns they may have.
If you are looking for updated info anout the Family Suites at All Star Music you can find the info and photos on page 1 of this thread:

I think the Moderators do a great job on these boards.

It is up to the hosts of the threads to keep them updated not the moderators.

Just my 2 cents.

I understand where you're coming from as well. I'm usually only on the DIS Cruise Board, so I came over to review Pop Century a couple of weeks ago. It literally took me at least 10 hours to get through 300+ pages and look at links that were posted within the FAQ thread. It was very frustrating and no doubt I would MUCH rather be researching my plan of attack on the parks than my resort!

I started taking down notes for myself, and realized everyone else could benefit from a consolidation as well. So I just took it in my own hands, and in the past week, I've worked on gathering as much info as I could, organizing all the facts, and looking into links to other sources I've gathered. I reached out to Safetymom once I had it all ready, and she gave me the nod to move forward with a new FAQ thread for Pop Century. I just happened to come across this thread after I got my thread completed.

If any of you who are digging through the FAQ thread for your resort want to consider doing the same (since you're writing down your findings anyways), feel free to take a look at the structure of what I've done and see if it would work for you.

The GROOVIEST New Pop Century FAQ Thread!

What timing!!! I was just considering staying at a value for the first time but hadn't yet decided on one! Thank you very much :) :) :)
