I've read a little that there is a possibility (maybe a small one, but a possibility nonetheless) that Cheney may be replaced on the Republican ticket. For those looking for a source, it was referenced in an editorial in my local paper.

So - if GWB chooses a different running mate for November, would that change your vote? Do you have any ideas in mind who would be an improvement?

And - please - those of you who are completely disinterested in voting for Bush regardless of his running mate, can you keep the Bush slams out of this thread? I'm just curious about how much Dick Cheney affects people's voting opinion.

Do you mind if I answer even though I'm already voting for Bush? LOL

I do not like Cheney at all, never have. I hate to say this (because I hate to wish bad health on anyone) but I keep hoping his health gets so bad that he has to pull out of the election, although I think it is too late in the game now for it to make much difference either way. I think most peoples minds are made up. IMHO,those who's minds are not made up, Cheney is probably not a deciding factor.

I say your editorial source is a person who wishes Cheney were being replaced on the ticket. If he were going to be replaced, then major news shows qwould have the info already, especially since the convention is not far away at all.

But in answer to your question, whoever's name goes on for VP doesn't really affect my decision as to whether or not to vote for Bush. I think having Cheney on the ticket is fine. Yet if G.W. felt the need to choose someone else who could do a better job that would be fine with me too.

This is because the VP's job is really fashioned by the sitting President. Except for being President of ther Senate, the VP does whatever the President wants him to do, and I highly doubt that 2 successive VPs ever really do the same jobs.

So unless i were to have huge ideological problems with Cheney(and I don't), i wouldn't worry about his place on the ticket.

Well, I don't really believe he will be replaced on the ticket, but this article from the Chicago Sun-Times also states that there were rumors of it being considered:

Cheney article

Snoopy mentioned in another thread that she has heard some people would consider their vote if someone else was the VP candidate. Just wondering if there is anyone here who agrees with that. Don't think it would actually happen.
