Well, we are finally back home after being gone for a month. We started off the month with our first stay at HHI. We arrived Sunday, May28th and stayed until Friday, June 2nd.

We arrived just a few minutes after the official checkin time. We had reserved a 1 bdrm and requested non-smoking, marsh view, and non-HA. Well, the only one bedroom villas left were non-smoking, woods view, and HA. I was a little disappointed but that's the way it goes. I reminded myself that the only request that really mattered was the non-smoking and that was met.

We were in villa 1211. We LOVED it. I am so glad we ended up with a HA room. It was something I'd feared would be very inconvenient and had come to dread the day we ended up in one.

Apparently, the bed was lower than in non-HA villas. Not a problem. DH is the only one of us that uses the shower. Somehow, he was able to keep the shower water from running out onto the bathroom floor. I don't think I would have been as talented but the kids and I prefer baths so the shower wasn't an issue for us.

I didn't notice any difficulty with lack of storage in the bathroom or kitchen. The counters may have been a little low but I'm not even sure of that.

The only complaint at all was the volume of the doorbell. It was earth-shattering. I made the mistake of ringing it once because my hands were full and I couldn't get to the key. Upon hearing the bell, which is really more like a bell/alarm, both kids burst into tears. My DH said he about jumped out of his skin. From then on, we would knock rather than ring the bell.

I loved the location of the room. It's the first villa you come to if you walk out the glass doors in Big Murgie's Den. We loved just walking over there to get lemonade in the afternoon and check for cookies.

I asked what sort of lemonade it was. They said it was just Country Time. For some reason, it tasted much better though. We had some mixed in our fridge but we always checked to see if there was in the lobby first.

My kids also enjoyed a nightly game of checkers at Big Murgie's.

The woods view was great. My kids loved watching the rabbits. I appreciated the shade provided by the trees. There is hardly any foot traffic to speak of behind the building 12 so it was fairly private. The deck was huge.

The only problems with the villa were a broken toaster and two spots on the bathroom floor. I was really impressed.

I will write more but I wanted to add that we were really impressed with all of the teenagers we encountered at the resort. They were so polite. If they were playing pool in Big Murgie's, they would ask my kids (8 and 5) if they would like a turn. They were always holding doors open for me while I was carrying that lemonade. One time, I had a very full tray at the beach house and some items fell over. A young lady about 15 years old jumped up from her lounger and helped me.

So, if you are the parent of any young adults who stayed at HHI that week, you have done an amazing job. We were thoroughly impressed with your children.

I will write more later about dining and activities.
