Replace reservation with holding points

Can you change a reservation to use points that went into holding? For example, if I have reservations for Jan 2022 and July 2022 but have to cancel Jan 2022, can I change the July 2022 reservation 60 days prior to use the holding points?

It would be available because it would be an existing July reservation. I'm not sure if you have to use the holding points for a brand new reservation.

Yes you can modify once you're within 60 days to use the holding points. This assumes that they are the same resort or the reservation was made in the 7 month window. It seems like a loophole that shouldn't work but so far it appears to.

It would be within 7 month window but not same resort. The July reservation would also be more points than the January one. Would that still be ok?

I mean the home resort on the points...just that if the reservation was made in the 11 month window then the points being swapped would need to be same home resort.

And yes, you would just modify online and check the contracts that you want to use. It should pu the holding points.

How do you modify online? I have some points in holding just now that I want to use towards an existing reservation from the same contract and resort for next week, but I can't figure out how to do it?

Go into the reservation and modify it. Keep all the details the same but go through the whole process. Check the contract(s) that you want used and it should pull points in the correct order. The problem with swapping out points for a reservation a week away is that I believe those points will then also be in holding (same place you're in now though).

What jetsdad said is correct. You have to modify the existing reservation between 30 and 60 days out in order for this to work. Otherwise you are swapping points in holding for points that will just end up in holding.

It is too late to do the swap. You have to swap at least 31 days out because what is freed up now will become holding so it won’t change what you have.

Any changes within 31 days creates holding points if you either swap points or change to a room that is less points.

Thanks you guys, I forgot about the holding on next week's reservation, however I do have another reservation later in February which is over the 31 days out so I can try and use the holding points on this one instead.

It does. I just did it in the past 6 weeks . I swapped out points into my January trip and then the last few into my February trip.

It was working this morning but not it just circles for me as well. I wonder if they are updating it with the new information regarding the digital card. Wouldnt that be nice!

So, I finally managed to access my dashboard this morning. I fo!lowed the instructions from jetsdad and Sandi, kept all the details the same and on the final page the website had pulled the points in the correct order.
The holding points have now gone, perfect.
