We had hardwood floors put in over the summer. I woke up this morning to a giant scratch right in the middle of the floor. I did not notice it when I left yesterday afternoon nor when I came home around 9:30 p.m.

I think it may be from rock salt or a small rock or something on the bottom of a shoe or a dance bag, but I can't be sure. It's pretty big & noticeable.

With the exception of having the entire floor sanded & redone, any ideas how I can take care of it so it's not so noticeable.

I am upset about it, but keep telling myself that it's just a floor, so I'm trying to keep myself calm about it..........although it really is upsetting. I keep telling myself not to look at it & to take a deep breath before losing my cool over something so dumb.

What is on the surface of the wood? Is the scratch down to the wood or is it just in the finish (poly??).

It's real hardwood.

Well, I would say it's down to the wood, as what I'm seeing is white/beige where it's scratched. :guilty:

Contact the person that installed the floor and see if they do repairs. It might be pretty simple for someone that does that for a living.

They gave us a little bottle of the stain they used. You could also look for the furniture repair "crayons" & try to match it up best you can.
