Repairing hole in asphalt driveway--DIY?

We have a 4" wide hole, about 2" deep in our blacktop driveway, really don't want to call someone else to do it if we can fix it. I know Lowe's has a driveway patch that they sell, has anyone ever used something like this and done it yourself? Any advice, tips, thoughts?

We did ours. it wasnt the easiest thing in the world. very messy. you need a board that you dont mind losing cause you have to put it on the patch material and run your car tire over it. then put down more patch, run it over,

our biggest problem is that the patch does not match the rest of the driveway. we are gonna have to pay for sealcoating to get it to match.

My advice would be to find somebody who will do minor repair AND sealcoat at the same time.
