re-read it. I was too intent on trying to decipher the "offensive" remark to persue the call for apology.

So now that I have, for what in that statement is he supposed to apologize to the troops for?

He is expressing the anger that many AMericans are feeling.

He is not disrespecting the troops. He is pissed at the President for entering into a war of choice, poorly equipt, poorly staffed, and thouroughly unable to handle the aftermath of the war. We are stuck in a quagmire that will drain us financially for decades. The innocent loss of life of Iraqis and Americans will continue.

Yeah he is angry. I am too.

You bet and this Congress needs to keep getting angrier till they get our troops out of the country we now occupy!

If he's to apologize for the mangling of the English language, the President needs to do a little of that too.

He has an opinion and he announced it. That's what floor speeches USED to be about. Now everyone has to compete to be the most outraged over the latest perceived insult.

I wish people could get outraged about the actual problems we have in this country instead of what Senator so and so said, or what this talk radio personality said.

I'm more outraged over what the government of this country has and hasn't DONE.

The only thing I see wrong with what Stark said was the "amusement" line. Otherwise no apology needed. It was CLEARLY aimed at the President and not the troops. If you are of the question the war means you hate the troops crowd (which is just an idiotic thought ) your mind will never be changed.

I am guessing here but the amusement part probably slipped in because Bush was grinning during his speech about an impending WWIII.

And if Bush's detractors wish to support and cheer on statements that Bush likes seeing members of the US military have their "heads blown off" for sheer pleasure... then I hope they do so often and loudly! I think it is grossly inappropriate to stand on the floor of the congress and state that the president sends troops off to war for "his amusement". I am glad that he said it however, because it reflects poorly on him. I would rather have him under pressure to apologize than to actually do it, because it keeps the focus on his hateful diatribe. The Congress, like the Senate has made fools of themselves since they have won the majority and there is a saying, "Never interupt anyone when they are making a fool out of themselves". It definately applies here. He is "STARK Raving Mad".

Is this why people get so quiet when Bush starts talking?

If I was Republican, I would want attention on anything other than this administration as well. That is why everyone is jumping on any little thing that they can right now. Rush, Stark, Chinatown, etc are all just distractions trying to get Americans eyes away from what is important. I suppose next we will get a Drudge Report on how there is a higher percentage fo Democrats who are gay and trying to get married to an illegal immigrant of the same sex?

I hear Congress is following Bush's lead on making a fool out of themselves. Bush has made a mockery of the Presidency for almost 7 years now.
