I am a DVC owner with June (OKW) and August (VB) use years. I want to rent at SSR in May 2010, but I will be 3 points shy even with borrowing. I have 100 points (25 banked) for 6/1/09 and 5 points for 8/1/09. I can borrow from 2010 use year all of my June 75 point contract and all of my August 50 point contract. This will give me 230 points.

Sadly for me May 2009 the same week is exactly 230 for a two bedroom but 3 points more in May 2010. I am thinking of renting the 3 points needed. Am I right in thinking that the use year that is transferred to my account needs not expire before May 2010? If only I could borrow from 2011.

Here is one more thing to be concerned about. You can't combine the June and August points to make a single night. So you have to have exactly the right number of points for a single night. For example, you need 25 points for one night. You have 15 points at OKW June and 10 points VB Aug. You can't combine them unless you use your once a year transfer from one to the other. And they will be separate reservations, but you can have them linked.

In other words, you have 175 points for your June UY. You have 55 points for your Aug UY. You can't take some points from June and some from Aug for a single night.

You may have bigger problems than just 3 points. Unless you do a wise transfer from one to the other. And then you have used your once a year transfer into one of your accounts so you can't transfer those three points into the account.

So I guess the only I can stay at SSR is to transfer from one to the other and then pay cash for one night. Does the rental of one night differ between the day of the week? Say I decided to rent the first night rather than on a Friday night.

Ask MS before you make the cash reservation. They should be able to fill you in on the details.
