We are planning a trip in 2014. We would like to check in Dec 27 and check out Jan 3. How would points work out for this? Would it broke up into Fri-Sat, Sun- Thur and another Friday or would be charged for a week? Any suggestions would help.

Check out the DVC Points Charts link at the top of the page. Put in your dates for the resort and size villa you want and it will tell you how many points would be required. You could have one stay from Dec 27 through Jan 3. The points per week are just a compilation of seven nights during the same season. Points are required per night. So if your season changes (and I think it does for Jan 1), you use that point requirement for those nights.

As Deb noted, you would have one continuous stay from 12/27 - 1/3. Since it crosses two DVC "seasons" you can't (and don't want) to use the "weekly" number of points. Just look up the points required for each night of the stay and add them together for the total required.

That reservation may be reserved January 27, 2014 and probably should be since that is a popular time to go. The points will vary depending on the Resort and Villa size.

For a Studio at AKVfor those dates, the points required will range from 97-174, 1BR 193-349, 2BR 263-475

At OKW a Studio would be 119, 1BR 238, 2BR 320

At BCV a Studio would be 149, 1BR 291, 2BR 383

At SSR a Studio would be 129, 1BR 258, 2BR 340

The hard thing is that rooms over NYE are very hard to come by if not booked well in advance. So if this is something you'd like to do definitely don't wait. There are lots of great DIS'ers out there that would be happy to help you with your trip. I send lots of co-workers to the board because if you can't be an owner, renting is the next best thing!! :) Good luck with your vacation.

Thank you for the help. I will do what has been suggested and share with the family the results.

Remember that virtually all DVC rentals are non-refundable and many are also non-changeable.

Be sure you can live with the commitment so far ahead of time or plan to buy trip insurance.
