How do you define "best way" would be the first question...highest price or least work ??? If you do not want the work and aggravation then Davids is an easy way to go but you are giving up a few $$$ per point by going that way. I have always rented my points directly with the renter and in some cases I have rented with co-workers as well as extended family. You would be surprised how appreciative nieces and nephews can be when you save them a couple of grand on their disney vacations.
I have never had an issue renting directly with the public mainly because you(or I) control the transaction. Yes, you may have to book DME for them and the DDP, but that's minimal effort.
Visiting WDW is a very expensive trip these days and people are looking for any way possible to save money and renting your DVC points is a great way to save their $$$, so they will make every effort to give you the least amount of aggravation.

Several suggestions:
rent close to the beginning of your use year so that if something goes wrong you have time to rent the points again
get a non-refuncdable deposit so that if something goes wrong etc.
payment in full at least 60 days out
look online for a contract to use, there are many out there

Well - the easiest sounds great but what cost will I be loosing out on? Right now I found a broker that will handle everything for $12 a point. What do you charge per point when renting points directly?

Depends on home resort and what you're willing to do.

If you're offering VGF points and will be online at 7:55AM to book at 11 months? You can charge a lot. Aulani is more likely to be able to market at about $14, since that's what people can get via brokers and there's not the same level of 11-month-to-the-instant pressure to book. You'd pocket the $2 difference, obviously, but might have to babysit the insane requests. (Go look at a few threads on the Rent board, and you will get my drift.)

If you go with Davids (responded to you in the 2nd post), I can say they are wonderful to work with. We used them to rent out our points and it was an easy and very smooth transaction.

I can add that I have been on the other end of David's (I rented someone's BCV points) and it was a great transaction!
