Renting points

Can someone explain how this works? We have (number removed) points that we can't use and they expire (date removed). If someone is interested I just need to make the reservation in their name? How do both parties protect themselves as far as the money situation? Any advice would be GREAT!

Have you used him before??? I hadn't heard of him!

i haven't used him - never needed to rent my points. i don't know how he handles potential pitfalls like renters running off without paying their credit card bills.

but if you look around, some have used him successfully and if you don't have much experience in renting, that might be a better alternative than trying to do it yourself. from observing others stories it can be a hassle (and you'd need to be firm about things like not allowing cancellations past a certain point to limit the risk of losing your points.)

this is a useful suggestion so both parties are clear what is expected.

but if you're not willing to go to court to enforce the contract, don't have any illusions that it offers any real protection.

I rent points out a lot, and don't mind doing it myself. But it does take some time and have some pitfalls. If you've never rented points out before, I do agree with the suggestin to use David. The ad is just at the top of the rent / trade board page. I read a lot of good things about it. And it takes the hassle out of you. But if your points are expiring soon, you may not get very much money back renting through David. Just sign up in his site and get the info to read it yourself. There is no obligation.
