Renting points. What are my chances?

Hi all

I would love to rent points from a DVC member for our upcoming trip - last week of October plus 1st week of November. I won't know my exact dates for another two weeks.

I'm interested in a studio at BWV for my family for 10 nights (2 reservations of 5 nights each with us going elsewhere for the Sat and Sun).

What are the chances of those reservations being available when I'm ready to do this in two weeks? Would most of the studios be booked up already?

Also (and what's worrying me more) because I'm not in the U.S. (I'm in Ireland) will that seriously limit my chances? I am registered with PayPal and I have a credit card and funds will be available but do most renters prefer to get a check rather than PayPal? I could also, of course, send an international money order made out in dollars but it would take a few days to get to the U.S. and that might put a renter off the idea.

Just looking for people's opinions on what my chances are with all the above concerns.

If it makes a difference, when I do narrow down my dates (in a couple of weeks) I won't be changing my mind (I will be tied into work deadlines for the rest of the year, based around my holiday time) so if the reservations are made, I won't be changing them. (Of course I realise that's a matter of trust between me and the renter).

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this. :)

Usually people accept PayPal so you should be OK there. Make sure of your dates then have someone check, you never know.

IMHO, there will be availablility at the BWV for your dates - unless you have your heart set on a standard view or a guaranteed BW view. The 7 month window doesn't open until the end of March for your dates, and I really doubt that all the PV - Pool/garden rooms are already booked.

Many members will take paypal - I don't see that as a problem. However, some may ask you to pay the "fee" (if there is one).

Best wishes -

You should be fine as long as you do decide on your dates soon and find a BWV owner to rent from that can take advantage of the 11 mo. window. You're 9 mos. out now -- if for any reason you have to wait to finalize your plans and fall within the 7 mo. window I'd say your changes will decrease dramatically due to MNSSHP and F&W Festival...lots of competition for those ressies!

Thanks calypso. That makes a lot of sense. I'm going to decide for certain before the 7 month window opens up. :sunny:
