I we are considering renting points for our next 9 day trip to decide if it's something we are interested in buying into. I want to stay at BLT. I have two concerns. My main concern is not having control of my reservation. We are good at planning our trips and I'm nervous about someone else doing it. Will I still be able to make adr's way in advance like if I was staying in a regular resort room. Will I be able to do my fp's just like any other guest? We also want dining plan. My other concern is my mother inlaw is going. So it will be 3 adults. 2 kids (6) and (2). I'm worried the studio will be way to small. Thoughts and comments appreciated thanks so much.

Hi there,

We have rented points for the last 4 years, finally took the plunge and just bought a resale, just waiting for the closing docs. You will still be able to make your ADR's, the owner should provide you will your ressie # and you can link that in your My Disney Experience. Once you link your park tickets you can make fp's at your 60 day window. Dining plan you will have to pay up front. You and the owner can do a two way call to Disney for that. The owner has to place your Dining plan on the acct and it has to be paid in full then. 6 in a studio will be cramped, very cramped and the only reason you would be able to get away with the 6 this year is because of the 2 year old. I personally wouldn't want to do 6 in a room. The beds aren't that big to begin with and that means either 3 to a bed..NO WAY that's working. Or Two and Two and a pack n play. Unless you are staying at OKW which studios are bigger, there really isn't a whole lot of room to have a pack n play set up once the pull out sofa bed is opened.

Just my 2cents :thumbsup2

Yeah... A studio sounds miserable with that number of people. The BLT studios only have capacity for 4 so you are too many for a BLT (and most) studios. You could do VGF or VWL I believe, but it would be tight! Remember... It's one bed and a sleeper sofa (generally) in a studio- not two beds.

You will get a reservation number though and can do your ADRs and FPs yourself.

I am a control freak...and I have NO issue renting points. It is my perference. You link the reservation just like any reservation, and everything happens in MDE. They will need to sign you up for the dining play (a waste of $$$, IMO), but shouldn't be a problem. I usually rent directly from an owner to save $$$, but if you are worried, go with one of the companies. 3 adults and 2 kids in a BLT studio is very tight. It is tightish with 2 adults and 2 kids. The 1br could work, because of the extra sleeping chair (same at Kidani), but I wouldn't try a studio.

Have a great trip!

Thanks only issue I have after your post is now I want to do it and I have to pay in full right now. As far dining plan We do atleast a character meal a day. We went last year without and I would have saved 35 dollars and I didn't count our snacks. We bought so at this stage in my kids life it works out for us.

3 adults and 2 children in a BLT studio sounds far more scary than the renting aspect! ;)

More specific it's one queen size bed and one double sleeper sofa and the living space is the smallest of all DVC studios.

3adults and 2 kids in a BLT studio for a whole nine nights will be very cramped. I wouldn't do it!

Okay. I'll look into other options. Thanks guys
If by chance the 2 y/o turns 3 by then you wouldn't be able to get a studio and would have to pay for the DP for them. A 1 BR will be much better regardless but you'll be putting an adult on a pullout. IMO saving $35 on a 9 day trip would not be enough to risk the use or lose situation. Go through the menus to see what's best for you in your situation. Since you'll likely get some type of passes anyway for this length a trip, you'll get some discounts as well as access to the TIW card if desired. Good luck with the planning.

As for the decision, I think you've made the right one by renting for one trip at least. Just do your due diligence and your risk is minimal.

She will just turn 2 before we go.

We rented points at BLT before we became members. Renting is very easy and you will still be able to do make all your dining and FP reservations.

I would not want to have 3 adults and 2 kids in a studio though. We were 2 A and 2 K and it was ok.

Dean will correct me if I am wrong, but shes not a DVCmember and did not indicate either a Florida res or AP, so she wouldnt be able to get a TIW or other discounts. I would still agree to run numbers and see if the DP works. IMHO if its $100 either side I would not do the dining plan to give you as much flex as you can have.

But they can get a pass to get the TIW if it works and for a 9 day trip, there's a good chance it makes sense anyway, that was my thinking when I posted that.

Cool, didnt know about a pass. Might have to start a new thread to learn about that, and let others know.
As always, thanks Dean:thumbsup2

TIW is available to FL Residents, DVC Members and AP holders. There are no other options for access to the TIW.

I won't try to speak for Dean, but I'd guess the "pass" he was referring to is an Annual Pass for a 9 day trip which would then provide access to TIW.

A one bedroom villa at BLT or AKV-Kidani Village will give you the second full bathroom. That's the least I would consider with a third adult along for the trip.

I felt this way five years ago when I first found someone to rent off of here on the rent dvc board..Thank goodness the lady I work with is wonderful I could not ask for a nicer and honest person..She is very fare on the price and has even let me send a post dated check to her when it was far out...I say its worth a go just make sure you check into the person on he board first..Yes the reservation is in their name but your name is on it as the guest with all your information..make sure they send you a copy of it, I get a email of one as soon as she made the reservation for me..good luck its worth it..

OKW studio rooms are the largest..we have even had a blow up bed for my youngest son on the floor since he hates sleeping with anyone and there was still plenty of room..
