We just took a trip to WDW in June, and stayed at the WL. From the minute we stepped into the building we were hooked. I think I have the DW talked into aother trip in January, just her and me. Her one big requirement is that we are frugle about the $$$. That led me to think that renting points would get us into a "better" place, but for less $$$. For starters, here are some of the specifics about that proposed trip.

When; Jan 1 to ~Jan 5 or 6, 2006
Who: Just me & DW (our 24th wedding anniversary is Jan 2)
Where: Love the WL, so VWL are an option, but am open to anything, including resort hotels.
What: Probably only 1/2 the time in the parks. A relaxing day at the room, a dip in the pool, maybe a trip to the spa, maybe a round of golf for moi. We're not overly fancy people, just would like a peaceful & beatiful place to relax. Nothing too fancy for dinner. Our fav last time was Alfredo's, followed by Mama Melrose & WCC

Questions:
-- Any issues with Disney or the CMs when you are a points renter, not the DVC owner?
-- What exactly is the process? I suppose the DVC owner needs to make the ressies, and is the one "billed" from WDW. The cash would exchange between DVC owner & renter.
-- Would the ressie be in the renters name or the DVC name? If the latter does that cause an issue ?
-- What is limited housekeeping? I suppose it's every few days, not the full service every day like in the resort hotels.
-- Can points be used for Disney Hotels like WL? If so is is economically the right thing to do?
-- What haven't I asked that I should?

Thanks in advance. The DIS has always been a great help for me, and I know this trip into new DIS places will be the same.

Figure about $600.00 more or less for a studio at the Wilderness Lodge Villas for the 5 nights. There is no discernible difference between treatment from the CMS of a DVC member and a renter. You must contact a DVC owner who has points to rent to make the arrangements for you. The entire transaction is between you and the DVC owner. The reservation should be in your name but all of the correspondence will go to the DVC owner who should then forward it along to you. There is a trash removel and towel replenishment of the 4th night of a 5 night stay. You can purchase additional housekeeping services, at your expense, if you need more. This can be handled when you are checking in. The best value of renting points is by staying at one of the DVC Resorts. Renting the points for other Resorts is often more expensive than going through Disney directly. :wizard:
