Renting points question

Hi All... Back in February, we rented DVC points for our trip in July. At the time, we had decided not to sign up for the dining plan - however we have reconsidered and may want to do it. To get the dining plan, do I need to go back to the person we rented the points from and have him set it up - or can I call and take care of it (or take care of it when I arrive)? It seems weird that I just cant set it up myself (and pay for it when I get there). Am I missing something?

The member you are renting from is the only one who can make any additions/changes to the reservation. The Dining Plan needs to be added no later than two days prior to arrival - it can't just be added when you check-in (which is the same with a cash reservation).

Other things that would need to be arranged by the DVC member who controls the reservation are room location requests and Magical Express. The DVC Dining plan is a little different than that offered with a cash reservation thru Disney (no admission tickets are required and no minimum stay is required), but the plan does need to be added by DVC Member Services and renters do not have access to that service.

Just contact the member and request that they add the plan to your reservation.

Unless you own the points that were used the make the reservation, you can't do anything to the reservation.

the owner can add it to your reservation at the latest 48 hrs ahead of time..and you pay for it at check in..not to the owner.

We have a DVC rental lined up for October with the DDP. Does anyone know if I, as a renter, can make a payment to Disney for the dining plan before check in so I don't have to fork out all of the $500 right at checkin?

The answer is no, currently you can only pay at check in.

I never understand why someone would want to give anyone money in advance, interest free. Could you help me understand?
