I hope this is the right place to ask this - we are looking into renting points for our family of six. (Two are small babies) What size of unit do we need to satisfy Disney's number of people to size of room ratio? Also, what would be the estimated cost per night for 'off' season DVC point rental? Looking at the Beach Club Villas. Thanks a bunch for any help! :sunny:

It really kind of depends on the ages and bedding requirements. If two are infants, you will probably get by with a 1 bedroom unless the other two children are not able to sleep together on the pull out. You would want to bring or rent an extra crib for the second infant unless they could share. Officially, you would need a 2 bedroom, but with two of the children being infants, I doubt they would enforce that. Now if you are talking 4 adults and two infants, I think a 1 bedroom is too small mostly because of the bathroom situation.

Thanks! Should clarify - it will be me, DH, 2 DS's ages 11 and 8, and the 2 babies under 1 year.

I am not sure what disney's policy would be but it sure would be nice to have a two bedroom because two babies require lots of room. That way you would not have to pull out the sofa and could have lots of room for all of the kids. It would also give you lots of room for two pack-n-plays. It wouls also give you nap space. JMHO

How many points do you need to rent a 2 bedroom at Beach Club Villas - 'off' season. Also how much would it cost per night - ballpark. Thanks Again.

IMO, a one bedroom (even if it is allowed) would just be too small for 6 of you at BCV. You would definitely have more room in the OKW set-up.

The points are going to run you about $10 per point. You can get an idea of how many points each night takes at tagrel.com. But, the lowest season of points runs you 200 pts per week for a 1 bedroom (22 pts each for Sun-Thurs, and 45 points each for Fri and Sat), and a 2 bedroom runs you 270 per week (30pts and 60 pts respectively). OKW would run you 160 and 218 for the same thing...so, you really could have a 2 bedroom at OKW for almost the same price as a 1 bedroom at BCV.

You might also want to consider just renting Sun-Thurs, and going home on Fri...those two nights eat up a lot of points.

Go to the Rent/Trade board At the top you will see DVC Point Charts. Click on that . It will direct your to BCV chart. if you are really lucky you can get points for $10 but $11-12 are more likely. good luck Have lots of fun.

I have to agree that with the two infants, I would probably want a 2 bedroom also. The older kids could have their own room and each have their own bed that way. Also, with the extra size and lower point cost of OKW, I would say you should consider that also. An OKW 2 bedroom in January would be 218 points for a week and at BCV, it would be 270 points for a week. At $10/point, that would make a huge difference in cost.

If you are planning for early Dec 2006, you would want to get in contact with a DVC member to make the reservation for you in January or thereabouts. Members can make reservations at their home resort 11 months outs and early Dec is very popular with DVC members because of the low points required.

The earliest a member could make a reservation for that entire time would be Jan 18 (if you check out Dec 17).

So you still have some time to decide where you want to stay.
