Alamo/National/Enterprise use the toll by plate system. There is no turning it on or off, if you use it you get charged, if you don't use it, no charge. The max you would pay for your 3 week rental is 6.00 plus your tolls. If you want to buy a sunpass you can do it via sunpass.com Should you happen to use your own, the Toll by plate system would not interfere or charge you if you have the transponder in place. Personally, I would use the Toll by plate, could be less expensive in the long run. For a description go to:https://www.sunpass.com/rentalcar Alamo's "rules" are at the bottom.

Thank you so much! I may be 'staying' on longer (using another car) in Florida, so might buy one.

I don't think the stickers are portable and the rental car company would probably not be happy if you left a sticker on their cars. So you'd need a physical transponder. That's $15 ($25 minus the $10 initial load). I'd just use Alamo's Toll-by-plate, and buy a sticker for the other car assuming it's not also a rental.

No, I'd buy the removable one, but since the helpful poster pointed out that Alamo wil only charge $6 for the entire rental, it's fine and fair. thanks all.

Please, keep in mind that it is 6.00 for the entire rental PLUS the tolls.

Actually the transponder is 25.00 plus the initial load of 10.00 minimum (or whatever amount you want to load over the minimum). The Window mount (sticker) is 4.99 plus the initial load of 10.00 minimum and will not work if removed from the windshield once it is installed.

Right. If Alamo is only charging me $6 per rental, plus tolls obviously, i'll just do that.

Thanks; it appeared from the SunPass site that the $10 was included. I should have known better!

Yes it did, indeed. But, when I did a mock purchase, it came to 35.00. Not exactly deceptive, but, somewhat confusing. I bought mine about 5 years ago at CVS, it beeps (that's how old it is).
