Renting from a DVC member - can I still do the dining plan?

I am planning to rent a DVC villa from a DVC member. I think I'll buy 10 day park hopper tickets with no expiration, etc. so I can use it in the future. I would also like to do the dining plan if possible. How can I do this? Must I be on a package? I will not be on a package renting points from a DVC member. But I really want to stay in the 2BR villa as opposed to a regular hotel room. I haven't been to WDW since the tickets changed or the dining plan came about. I need help!

You must book a room/tickets package. DVC members are not eligible.

There's a rumor going around that DVC may be able to purchase the dining plan eventually.

I talked to member services yesterday ands the CM said she was told in April and after that they (CM were able to book and take requests for it.)

So it depends on when you are going. Before April no. After maybe. Your changes are pretty good.

Good luck.

We're not going until Dec 2006. I hope we can take advantage of the dining plan. But if not we'll manage since we always have before. I just think it would be easier to budget our meals on the dining plan.

You have a pretty good chance of being able to do the plan then. Wait a few months, and you will know more.

I belive the price for DVC members is a few dollars more per person a day, but it isn't to much more. All in all still a very good deal. We hope to be able to use it for our trip after this next one in Jan 2006.

We will be at Disney World in April on points so we have been trying to get more information from DVC member services. They don't have much information but they did say that the daily price would be the same as the 2006 pricing for non-DVC (I believe just under $38 for an adult per night of stay). They will start booking the dining plan for DVC members January 3, so they figured they would be briefed on the full details in the next few weeks.

Right it will be for those who book starting January 3rd for stays starting in April and will be the same cost for anyone who is on the dining plan.

What is not known yet are the restrictions - if any - on who can use the plan or what.

We should know very soon :)

This is great news for us DVC'ers.
