Hi,
Our vacation is ** points and we want to rent directly from members. It is looking difficult to get all of the points from one member.
How best can we combine points from 2 different members to stay in the same ** villa for the week?
I've read about linking 2 separate reservations so you don't have to check in twice.
Thanks in advance for the education.

If you make two reservations for exactly the same accommodation (resort, size, view), they can be linked so that you don't need to move. It's possible that you might have to have both owners request this, maybe someone else can say?

Okay.
So can I place a reservation for sun., mon. And tuesday with one member...then come back later with the balance of the points and have the reservation linked?

Thanks again,

Trent

So you have a Sat, with Member B, then Sun, Mon, Tues with Member A, then Wed, Thurs, and Friday with B again. ???
As to whether you can or not is entirely up to the members you are dealing with.

They have to make the requests and both have do it.

Can the request be made after the first reservation, or do the reservations and requests have to be made at the same time?

Thanks,

Trent

I think that the biggest issue you will have is that you will have to check in each morning of your new reservation.

We are members and we did this in June. It was not much of a hassle, but we did have the segmented dining and that did cause some issues, but nothing too bad.

Have a good time. :thumbsup2

From what I have read, the owners may even have to call together in a 3 way call.

What I would do is make sure that you discuss this with the owners before any reservations are made so each can contact MS to find out exactly what needs to be done.

This way, everyone knows the procedure beforehand, including you.

Definitely make the owners aware of your intention to link the reservations. I rented to a really nice woman who needed to link my reservation to points she rented from someone else. It was a process for sure. There was an issue with the other owner for quite some time and I had to talk to disney a lot. Finally after a few weeks the 3 way call took place and all was well. I don't think I'd do it in the future though..it was a pain.

You will not have to check in each morning of the new reservation. The segmented dining is more complicated than a simple linked reservation.

I have a reservation in October with 3 different members. I only had to have 1 of the members call to link them all together. He did it while I was on the phone with him and MS to book DDP no problem at all. Maybe depends on the CM?

I rented to someone last year who needed to also rent from someone else to get enough points. She found another person to rent teh rest of the points from, and then had that person transfer the points to me so she could just have 1 reservation. If you could find 2 people to rent from who didn't mind using up their transfer for the year, that might work for you.

Not always true. We had a reservation with our own points in June. Six nights with one contract, one night with another contract. We were told we would have to check out and in for the last night's stay. We were told we didn't have to move (that would have made me angry), but we did have to check out and in again.

I'd suggest trying to get all the points from one member. There are usually several people who have lots of points to rent on the R/T. I might even consider paying a premium to only deal with one owner. What if, for some reason, your plans change? That'd be really difficult with multiple linked ressies.

And if their plans change, even one owner might not be able to do something about it.

No argument there. But the headache of contacting 3 owners to try to coordinate a change seems like it's got to be worse (and I say that as someone who has NO points to rent, so no dog in the fight).
