Renting Electric Scooters at the Boardwalk

Hi;

Has anyone rented an Electric Scooter at the Boardwalk Resort? I understand they can be rented where you rent the Surrey Bikes. Any information you can give me will be appreciated. We will be at the Boardwalk for 8 days. I was wondering if they have a weekly rate or if you have to rent on a daily basis. Do you have to return the scooter every day or can you take it to your room.

You can rent from an outside vendor who will drop the ecv off at bell services of your resort.

One of the vendors is walker mobility, we've used them numerous times.

If you head over to the disAbilities forum. One of the stickies at the top has names of several offsite rental companies and contact information.

the one you're referring to is buena vista scooters, http://www.buenavistascooters.com which is pretty much the same as any of the other companies that will drop off and deliver as well.

There are several companies that will deliver ECV's or wheelchairs to your resort.

No one has posted any information about experiences renting from Buena Vista.
If you go to the disABILITIES Board and check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread, you will find a number of companies listed in that thread, along with their websites and phone numbers. The companies listed are the ones that DIS posters most frequently have posted good experiences with.

I have used Walker Mobility every trip and love them. I did use Scootaround in DisneyLand and were pleased with them too. Scootaround also rents in Orlando.

I'm considering using that company, but haven't made a final decision yet. I did e-mail them with a couple of questions, and got a pretty quick response. The Celebrity scooter is $30 a day, plus $1.95 tax.
For all rentals, they will deliver to the various resorts by 9 AM. What particularly impresses me is their hours - 8 AM to 11 PM every day. This is one of the rare instances where I'm a 'glass half empty' person - I'm afraid something will go wrong when, say, I'm trying to leave Epcot after IllumiNations (like the time I had a flat tire ), and this company seems to have longer hours than most of the others.
