Renting ECV outside of Disney

We're going to Disney in November and staying at the CBR. I would like to rent an ECV from an outside company. I know I've read on this board that there's one (or more) who will deliver to the resorts and charge you a weekly fee. Can anyone help me with this? TIA

We have rented from Care Medical Equipment twice. They are super. Very nice on the phone and they send you all the paper work you need in a timely manner. I would recommend them.

My DH doesn't always use an ECV - only when we're going someplace, like WDW, where he'll have to do a lot of walking. Does Care Medical Equipment require that you already own one? Do you know? Do you have their phone number? Or is it in the FAQ's on this board.

I've never heard of a requirement from any rental place that you have to already own one. There are some places that rent power wheelchairs that do, but not ECV's, to my knowledge.

I rented from Walker Mobility last week; very competitive rates, nice to deal with, and superior service. We were at MK on our 4th day when my ECV started losing power. I called them and within 30 minutes one of their employees was there (at the back of the park by the Dumbo ride) with a replacement scooter and charger for me, in case the problem was with the charger I had been using from them. I highly recommend them!

One of the things I really liked about Randy's was that it was compact and had a tight turning radius on their ECV. How is the Walker cart for size and turning radius?

Walker's has several different sizes of ECV's available depending on how much you weigh. My ECV had a very tight turning radius, making it pretty easy to maneuver off of the monorails, boats, etc. They're also much less expensive than renting an ECV at WDW parks...and more powerful. A couple of street clowns lined up me and a few other ECV users at DHS for a scooter race down the street; everyone but me had a WDW ECV, and I won the race, hands down....lol.

None of the companies require you to already own an ECV in order to rent one.

Some of the companies rent power wheelchairs. Most of those companies do require that someone already have experience with driving a power wheelchair. They are more difficult to drive than an ECV is.

I agree with RN4Babies-great turning capabilities and very easy to handle. Battery power is long-lasting and the power is a plus! It also stops on a dime-great when you're in crowds. We stayed in one park each day just because it's easier when you have an ECV-it took me a while to learn how to drive it properly-especially getting on and off the buses!!! I had back surgery December, 2007 and can't walk the long distances required at WDW. I was able to use the ECV for 10-12 hours with no problem. Hope this helps!
