Renting ECV at Epcot

Is there any benefit of renting from a Disney contracted company other than they are allowed to drop the scooter off at luggage services without the guest being there? I rented from Walker, which is not a Disney preferred company but they can drop the scooter off at POP but I have to meet their employee. The same is true about pickup. I am actually thinking about having them pick up the scooter at a theme park entrance, if they are allowed, on my last night. Walker gets good reviews from many on these boards.

We prefer used ones contracted with Disney so that we know it will be there when we check in and we can just go do what we want to do. And when it's time for us to leave we just drop it off and don't have to worry about missing the bus or our flight or loose time on our last day from doing things we want to do.
They also tend to have a more disney-esque response when things go wrong (one time the CMs couldn't find the scooter, or the one time we had one that the battery died too quickly). But we try to do a lot with the scooter and also have gone multiple times a year for the last few years, for over a week at a time.

Keep in mind that there is NO guarantee that they will have any ECVs available for rent at the parks. They are first come, first served. The only way to be 100% sure you would have one is to rent from an off site vendor.

I have not had a problem with renting from the parks. In Epcot my ECV had a problem. I immediately got a replacement from the IG rental area, I had rented from the main gate. They did have more than 2 ECV at the IG area. I also returned the ECV at the main gate. This was in Aug 2015.

I just decided to go ahead and rent from an outside company, Walker Mobility to be specific. I worry about getting it on or off the buses and in/out of my hotel room as I will be on a solo trip. I asked the question on Mom's panel as if it was for a family member but it is for me and my very bad knee. I really struggled this past weekend at a local theme park.
Like you, I was very worried about getting on and off of the buses.

The first time I did it, I let the driver know that it was my first try and I needed all of the help I could get.

He gave me step by step instructions. Turn the speed all the way down, come straight up, turn here, turn there. I was amazed at how quickly I figured it out.

The only problem I had was that once, the bus driver, in an attempt to get another disabled person on the bus, told me to move to the back. Problem is, I can't do stairs. So I couldn't move. He totally forgot that I was also disabled. He got kind of upset and informed me that "those seats are for the disabled, you have to move."

Any recommendation of a door stop? Will those ordinary rubber ones work? I am staying at POP.

Yes, that is what I was thinking of.
The doors are designed to shut on their own, making it very difficult to get an ECV into the room as a solo. The door stop holds it open so you can drive in and out, then remove it.
Good Luck

I was also ging to tell you to get a door stop as the PP said the doors are heavy and hard to open ( I have a bad arm and some times I have a hard time oping the doors) I love pop great place

Thank you everyone! You have all given me confidence. Last week I was actually considering canceling my ECV rental but after my knee swelled up overnight and the pain I have been experiencing this morning I am glad I didn't!

Hope you have a good trip.
Let us know how you did.
