We are in the planning stage of our next Disney trip and I am looking at the possibility of renting DVC points to stay at *. I have a few questions. How far out do you need to book DVC? Can you get the Dining plan if you rent points? Do you think its worth it to upgrade from Coronado Springs to a studio at *.

You can add the dining plan, but they just changed the process. You used to pay at check in. Now you have to pay at the time you add it. You have until 48 hours prior to check in to add it. The member you rent from would add it for you.

You would have to pay the member in full for the dining plan prior to them adding it to your reservation.

You do take a bit of risk renting and paying the member for your dining plan ahead of time. But if all works out, it will be a great upgrade. Not only for the room, but the resort amenities and the location.

Good observation. Booking through points you will not get the free dining plan. That could definitely be a deal breaker.
