DVC, if you do online check-in and select any requests there, it erases and overrides any requests already on file. So it is best to contact the broker, have requests added to your reservation through Member Services, and when you do online check-in, do NOT make any requests on that screen or via any other means. Also make you requests rather generic, do NOT request specific rooms and so forth. If specific rooms are not available the room assigner will have no idea why you wanted that particular room and you may wind up with something completely different. Use things like close to restaurants and so forth.
And it depends upon which AKL you are staying at. If you are in Kidani, you have a bit more choice on rooms. In the original lodge building, all the DVC units are on the 5th floor (6th floor for concierge) on one side of the building.
