Renting DVC points...Can I request my own room through touring plans room request tool? I'd be fine if it wasn't granted but would like to try, as long as it didn't negatively impact the member at all (I'm new at renting :)

I would think that would be fine. You have a confirmation # for your reservation so you should be able to make a request through TP. What resort are you staying at?

It is best to contact the owner you rented from and ask them to contact Member Services to add your room requests.

DVC doesn't usually accept faxes and just tosses them out.

Then I would contact the broker. You see, with DVC, if you do online check-in and select any requests there, it erases and overrides any requests already on file. So it is best to contact the broker, have requests added to your reservation through Member Services, and when you do online check-in, do NOT make any requests on that screen or via any other means. Also make you requests rather generic, do NOT request specific rooms and so forth. If specific rooms are not available the room assigner will have no idea why you wanted that particular room and you may wind up with something completely different. Use things like close to restaurants and so forth.

And it depends upon which AKL you are staying at. If you are in Kidani, you have a bit more choice on rooms. In the original lodge building, all the DVC units are on the 5th floor (6th floor for concierge) on one side of the building.

Thanks for your response! We are staying at Kidani. I asked the broker to ask the member to put that request in. I hope they did but I didn't hear anything back about it :) I wasn't sure how the TP tool worked so thought it might be a "just in case" option. I think I'll leave it alone and cross my fingers :)
