Soooo....after cancelling our September 2011 WDW holiday (which, as it happens, we're *still* waiting for VH to refund us...three weeks after the fact and 9 emails later, 6 of which from the cancellations department :headache:)...we're booked for September/October 2012 :wizard:

We've already booked

14 nights POFQ, DDP, 14 day Ultimates :cloud9:
3 night DCL Bahamas cruise on 4th October pirate:

So, we just need to sort flights and the final part of our holiday

We're looking at 3 nights (I'd love 4 but DF has drawn the line!) where we don't have tickets :confused3 and just 'relax by the pool' I originally suggested Pop Century to DF, at £198 for a preferred room for 3 nights...to save on costs. But then I got thinking about DVC, so...

When you rent DVC points, where do you usually rent from? DVC Request or here on the boards?? Is it easy/simple to do? Confirmations? What happens if there are any problems?

We can't choose between AKV and BLT either  DF says BLT as we're stayed at AKL already...I'm not so sure

Thanks everyone :wizard:

I've rented out points before - I did it through the 'other' forum though. Normally it's just a case of looking for a member who is offering points and giving them your details (names, ages and address), the dates you want to stay and which resort you are looking for. The member will then phone Member Services and make the reservation for you, Member Services e-mail a confirmation of the booking which the member can forward on to you to prove the booking has been made.

When I did it I took full payment up front through Paypal but I have thought better of that now and if I ever do it again I will just take a deposit initially and the balance nearer the time. Some renters also like to draw up a contract with the person they are renting to but I didn't bother with that, just went on trust.

We own at AKV because I loved the savannah view but we have stayed at the Contemporary next door to BLT and being able to wander over to MK of an evening just to soak up the atmosphere is great.

If you've got any more questions feel free to give me a shout. :goodvibes

Haven't rented points however there is no way I could be at BLT and not o in to MK knowing it was so close plus the pol area is small and busy.

I love BLT but not for a no parks visit.

Did you fancy maybe OKW or SSR? BCV with storm along bay would probably be a good choice for pool days too.

I've rented a couple of times and it was really easy. I did it through the DVC board, I paid via paypal and they made the bookings for me, didn't have any problems :goodvibes

We just rented points for part of our trip from a wonderful DISer. Was very easy and meant we could afford way more nights.

We really liked BLT but a big reason was the short walk to MK. I'd also be miserable looking at the castle every day but not being able to go in!

AKL is an amazing resort. We've now stayed twice and will definitely be back again. I'd choose it over BLT for a chill out trip. (Pool was very busy at BLT) next trip I think we might try BCV and you'd have the benefit of the big pool there, Boardwalk nearby by and minigolf. Also the buses are pretty quick to DTD from there unlike AKL and BLT!!!

:

Renting DVC points is a private arrangement between you and the DVC owner so the DVC owner will contact Member Services for you whenever necessary. Confirmations, etc will go directly to the DVC owner and it will be up to that person to forward the information to you.

The biggest worry will be if there are problems because it will be up to you and the DVC owner to resolve them. Disney will not get involved. Since you've already had to cancel one vacation find out the owner's policy if you have to cancel or change dates because some will not give you a refund.

Most owners will be good to work with, but I would be more comfortable with a written contract so I know what to expect.

Rented twice third time this nov and it is an easy process. The renter will normally ask for half the deposit upfront. Stayed at okw out of season and Aklv and again this year. Lovvvvve it there so quiet and relaxing. I would say wilderness lodge villas is a nice dvc resort as well. A boat ride away from mk. U get great accom for a lot less. Good luck with ur decision
