Renting DVC points and Magic Bands?

I am sure there is a whole thread on this, but did not find it with a quick search. My question is, if I rent DVC points for a stay, what are my options for Magic Bands? I am guessing that I don't get them with my DVC point rental, which would make sense. I also don't know if my current bands would have any battery life in them when I'd go on rented DVC points as they would be 2 years old at that point. Would I just buy some bands from the Disney Store and link them to my MDE?

Link your reservation to your MDE account. You can then choose and customize your magic bands. They are complimentary and will be mailed to you if you wish. I think you might also be able to have them held for you at the front desk, but we always choose to have them mailed.

You will be able to add the reservation to your MDE just like any other reservation. Once you do that you will be able to customize your magic band order and get them just like a normal reservation.

As long as your reservation is linked to MDE, you’ll get magic bands and can customize them.
