I am not a DVC member but have been thinking about going with my family (4 kids and hubby) to DW for a week next year. I would love to stay on site but there don't seem to be a lot of affordable options for a family our size. My question is does anybody rent the condos that would accomodate our family and if so, how could I find out about it. Is there a site that shows available accomodations.

If this isn't an option maybe some of you could give me some ideas that would work. When we go to the beach we usually get a condo that has 2 bedrooms but sleeps 6 for anywhere between $1200 to $2000 per week. I am not sure what the cost would be on site but some of the places I have looked at on the DW site that would accomodate us seem to require around $400-500 per night which is a little out of my reach when you consider that I also have 6 people to get admission to parks, foods, entertainment, etc.

Would appreciate any advice you could give.

Thanks.

You would need a 2 bedroom vacation villa. It has a max occupancy of 8 plus 1 child under 3. You can rent a reservation from a DVC member. The price is negotiable, and will vary depending on the season, exact number of days, and resort choice. You may want to post this on the DVC Rent-Trad board, or ask a moderator to move this post for you. Renting requires rust on the part of both parties involved, and I would request a clear rental contract stating the obligations of both parties and consequences for failure to follow through. Disney does not become involved in private rental transactions.

There is a website VRBO which you can find on Google. If you look for Flordia , central ,Kissimmee then Windsor Palms Estates. You will find all kinds of homes, townhouses, condos etc at very attractive rates. This complex is 3.5 miles from Disney main gate less than 10 minutes by car. Definitely worth investigating and MUCH CHEAPER!

You can check out the point requirements for the different seasons here:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-vacation-club/DVCpoints.shtml Since most rentals are between $10 and $12 per point, you will get an idea of what your cost will be.

As Chuck said, definitely check out the rent-trade board here at the Dis...and read the FAQs posted at the top. Then do some searches on this board for rental info...you will find a lot.

One thing to know is that weeknight points (Sun-Thurs) are a lot less that weekend points (Friday and Saturday nights). For example, our 2BR at OKW in May is 135 points for Sunday check in and Friday AM departure. Average cost would be around $1350. If we added a Friday and Saturday night to that at 64 points per night, our cost goes up to around $2630.

Good luck!

Depending on when you want to go, you can likely get a 2 BR off site for under $1000. DVC will cost you a lot more but you can really cut the cost if you rent for 5 nights excluding the weekend and you should be able to get it within your budget.
