My fiance and I usually use ME or a towncar service. On our next trip we were thinking of renting a car because we want to go to Universal one or two days.

We've never rented a car before-- what company is the easiest to deal with? Like easiest to find in MCO?

I don't have any experience with renting a car in Orlando. However, a few years ago we stayed onsite and took the Mears Shuttle to Universal for the day. As I remember, it was something like $25 per person? They picked us up at ASMu and dropped us off at Universal, same for the return trip. Just another option to consider!

Depending on how long your trip is you can still use DME or a car service and rent a car for the time you need it. We used Hertz (located at SOG) and they came and picked us up at the resort and dropped us back off when we were done with the car. It was a quick and easy process. There are other companies that will do this as well. No need to rent for the entire time if you wouldn't normally do so.

You can rent from Alamo or National for a couple of days by picking up the car at the Dolphin Hotel or Disney Car Care Center and returning it there. That way you won't have to have it for the whole time and you can use ME to and from the airport.
Just go to the Alamo or National sites and put in Car Care Center or Dophin as you pick up and drop of locations. You can bring up a list of locations and scroll through them.

About 2 1/2 years ago we went to Orlando for our first and only time there. We rented a car through Hotwire for 7 days. We would up with Budget and had absolutely no problems. Their counter is in the airport. They were great. If we were going again, I would have no problem renting with Budget.

We had no problems either finding our way to Disney from the airport or getting around to the parks, Walmart and anywhere else we felt like going. We did make the mistake of getting mixed up on the way back to the airport on the last day, though, and wound up on the road with all of the tolls. Can't remember which one it is. Next time I'll do a better job of not losing the map during the week and not realizing it was gone until we were on the highway. LOL!

Have a great trip!

The rental car counters are all in a row on the bottom level of MCO. Then when you are done at the counter there you walk across the street and check in at the garage station for that company to get your keys. There is a sign in front of the garage telling you where to go for each rental company. It is very easy and well-marked.
