Renting and/or returning Autos at Port Canaveral

Has anyone rented or dropped off a rental car at the cruise terminal (or near by)? How did it go and who did you use?

I'm at Poly for a friday night (for the holloween party in MK) and then to a 7 day cruise and then back to Boardwalk for 6 nights. Not looking forward to Mears / Disney buses for 2 or 3 roundtrips in 2 weeks! I'll want a car for the 6 nights at BWV anyway.

We have used Avis & National for Port Canaveral drop off. The Avis location is at the Radisson hotel, and very convenient. National is a little further away. They both offer shuttle service to and from. We would use either, whichever gave the best price, but if they are the same price, we'd choose Avis for the added convenience.

And the whole drop-off, shuttle, pickup thing is pretty quick and easy too. I always drop my family and luggage and then go drop the car and get myself shuttled back. Unless things have changed, they have a tent out in the parking lot that you go to after the cruise and all of the service providers are repeatedly running vans through there to pickup guests. Although, they wouldn't let me do that when we went on one of the fateful Norwalk virus cruises, but then....that's another story!

We rented from AVIS at the Orlando airport and then dropped off the car at the Radisson near Port Canaveral. I dropped my family and luggage off at the cruise terminal before I returned the car and got them to line up while I brought the car back. Of course, don't forget your cruise ticket if you do this or you may it difficult to get into the terminal after!

I see to remember picking up a thread that the AVIS terminal is no longer at the Radisson - anybody care to confirm or deny this??

We also rented from AVIS after the cruise and there are very regular shuttles from the parking lot across from the terminal back to the AVIS office.

We will be doing the same thing! Are you going to the Oct 31st MNSSHP and Nov. 1st cruise? That is when we will be there.

We are only able to stay the night after the cruise because of school for my DS but our flight does not leave until 5 p.m. on Sunday and we might as well take advantage of visiting the parks while there.

I read on another thread the Avis is moving from the Radisson today and Budget may actually be closer to the port. We rented from Avis last year and it was very quick. I will see who has the best price and go with them.

Glad to hear other have done what I had planned. DH drops us off and then returns the car and comes back as a single person w/ no luggage on the shuttle.

Avis has indeed moved to a location 1½ miles further down the road. Budget is now the car rental agency closest to the port.
