Renting an ECV at EPCOT question

I will be renting an ECV at the main entrance to EPCOT. After spending the morning there, we have lunch scheduled at Beaches and Cream. My plan was to make our way over to the International Gateway and walk to Beaches and Cream (I am able to make that walk, but just can't last all day, which is why I need the ECV). After lunch we would go back to EPCOT. Will they allow me to turn the scooter in at the International Gateway even though I didn't rent it from there? We would be back to get it after lunch but I didn't know if this would be permitted.

EPCOT does run out of ECVs. If you turn it in, there may not be one available when you return. I would ride it to the gate and then have a walking member ride it back to the nearest country and park it by the strollers. Pick it up when you return. Then you are sure have one later in the day. Have a good time.

That's an interesting idea - but remember that CMs might move the unit while you are gone. Take along a brightly colored bandana or a length of brightly colored or printed ribbon to tie to the ECV to help identify it.

When my mom first started using a ECV we never had a problem getting one at IG and different times of the day. You can rent/return to any counter just keep your receipt. also in the past (we now rent one from a vendor so she can take it back to our resorts) as long as you had your receipt if you rented a ECV at Epcot in the morning and then returned it and went to MK in the evening then you just had to show that same receipt and you would get one at the new park without having to pay.

There is no guarantee there will be another ECV available at the next park.
So, it's a good idea to have an alternate plan if there are none.

The Disney website does say:
"Length of Stay Rentals are not available for ECVs. However, vehicles can be held if Guests leave and return to the same park on the same day."

So, I would suggest asking them to hold it when you leave.
