Renting a Wheelchair for the first time.

@barbaraann so glad your foot is feeling better and you have your plans all set. Enjoy your vacation!

Tomorrow is my big day. I should know by Tuesday, whether or not my foot is going to act up or not. If it does, then I have the medication that the doctor gave me. I'm always squeamish about pills. I wonder if the Florida weather will factor into how my foot feels at all. I have a friend who has bad ankles, and when she was there, she said her ankles hurt constantly. She comes back to Chicago, and they did not. I told her, she doesn't walk that many miles a day in Chicago.

Just curious how it went for you. Could you give us an update?

I leave on my vacation today, and I return on September the 8th. The foot is a whole lot better than it was. I have the 2 packs of cortisone pills that the doctor prescribed. However, I have been getting along really well with ibuprofen midday. I am now most concerned about all the rain forecast. Sure hope we don't have to run/walk through the raindrops all week.

Well I survived my vacation, and all the rain that we had. Four nights. Once in each park, we ended the night in torrential downpours where we were soaking wet down to our feet. Thankfully, my shoes dryed by the next morning. I had 8 days in the theme parks. 6 at Disney, and 2 at Universal. The cortisone pills allowed me to walk quite successfully. I just went slower, and for shorter periods. I discovered early on that double socks helped me greatly. The Halloween Party and Harry Potter were the highlight of my trip. I never once entertained the idea of renting either a scooter, or a wheelchair. I was fine without either. Sadly, the rain made it impossible to see MSEP, The Star Wars Fireworks, Nightime at Animal Kingdom, and Illuminations. If the rain had stayed away, I might have wanted a wheelchair just at night time, but that option was mute when the rain came down in buckets once at each park at the night I wanted to stay late.

Now that I am home, I still have periods of pain with my foot. The foot doctor said to come back if I don't get any better after my trip. I have no swelling at all. I will wait a few weeks before making that decision.
