Our main reason for choosing the cabins was so we wouldn’t be inside a hotel. We are still pretty nervous about everything plus making ds his own meals will be so much easier for us. I would much rather cook for him then take him somewhere and have him make a mess and be done eating after 5 minutes lol. He’s not a fan of sitting still but what 10 month old is? We plan to bring lots of food in the car with us. I’m excited! I’ve wanted to stay at the fort for awhile now. I’m hoping we can use the splash pad without it being crazy busy
IMO you can't go wrong with a cabin at FW. Even though you will have neighbors you are not sharing walls, floors, ceilings. Unless your neighbor is outside and talking loud you will think you are in a single family house. You can;t beat the separate bed room, especially with a child or two. In a regular hotel room when the little ones need to go to sleep everyone almost has to go to sleep. In the cabin you put the kid(s) in the bedroom and you are free to watch TV or just relax in the living area. We have never cooked really in the cabins but with a full size fridge there is more then enough room for groceries etc. There are of course Disney touches at the Fort and in the Cabins, but when you get back there can feel like you are really outside of Disney and relaxing in the woods so it''s easy to decompress from a day at the parks.
On property we have also stayed at OKW but our last 3 trips and next 2 will be at FW, one with my parents and my DD in their RV in April and the second back in the cabins with my DD. I would love to try some of the other resorts but keep getting pulled back to The Fort.
