I just learned something very interesting while checking prices & check in times with many different ECV rental companies..
I wanted a ECV for 4 days. Starting on a Friday & using it through Monday
(I check out Tuesday AM)
I learned that while some places let you keep it all Monday dropping it off at Bell Services no later than Tuesday 9 AM others want it returned by 4:30 PM Monday leaving you stranded the rest of the day & evening, But you are still paying for a full day.
If you are leaving Monday, No prob, But if you are leaving Tuesday.. Not so good.
Also, Though you book these on line, It never hurts to give them a call & ask about a discount (I did & got one) & ask if they charge your credit card at the time on reserving the ECV. (Most do)
Hope these tips help you:wizard:

I just booked today with Walker Mobile Services, and they do NOT charge an extra day as long as you have the scooter there at the desk of your resort the morning after you leave AND they do not charge your credit card until 24 hours before your arrival.

Good hint to check.
It certainly could help avoid some surprises.

and they asked for flight info so it would be at the hotel when I arrived and got a discount for the 7 days since I am there 6 nights but 7 days - that way I can return it to the desk when I go to meet the DME bus. the week was much less than individual day's rental total.

Randy's is going to have the ECV at your resort when you arrive, and allow you to leave it there when you depart? Are you sure? I'm not doubting you - but their policy has always been to deliver the ECV to the client in person, and make sure you know how to operate it and how to disassemble/reassemble it, if applicable, and to sign the rental agreement. They also, as far as I know, pick it up from the customer in person, vs. just picking it up from the resort.

Now, I've only rented from Randy's; from Walker, whose return time I don't know because I had a couple of problems during my trip and the owner let me keep the ECV until my DME time; and Scooterama, which drops off the ECVs by 9 AM and count your 'day' as 24 hours beginning from that time, no matter when you actually arrive.

I booked mine months ago with Care Medical, they never gave me a certain time to drop it off by. The confirmation they sent me by mail just said to drop it off at the bell desk at check out. The price has never changed.

but I am to call from the airport when I land so they will be there when I arrive - and then they asked for my departure time so they could pick it up when I was thru with it not at some particular time of day.

I was told the same thing by Randy's--leave at the bell desk when I check out. I wonder if something is up with them--maybe a change in staff--because the info and practice from the booking woman does not comport with what Randy said when I was inquiring. For example, rather than charge me half when I booked, they charged the entire amount to my credit card. When I called to ask about it, the lady apologized but would not credit and then re-charge my card for half. I then sent an e-mail saying, OK, you charged me the whole thing, fine, but please make a note of that so that you don't charge me again before my arrival. I never received a response to my e-mail. I have read good things about them on the boards so I'm hoping it's just a fluke, but am bringing copies of my credit card bill for the whole amount just in case. Hmmm. Guess I will try them again and see if I can clarify the checkout procedure.

That is what Randy's told me for my December trip. They asked me to call the driver as we got about 1 hour out (driving) and he would met us at the resort and then we are to arrange a time for him to pick it up around 10am on checkout day. The woman I talked to indicated they had had problems with the CM's in the luggage room and they will not leave them and asked that we not leave them either. I am willing to do just about anything to save $100 and if this was all they asked of me to save that, I will do it.

I had trouble twice with Walker's ECVs running out of juice (and it was charged all night and during breaks), I will use them again at the end of August, but because Randy's was able to do our December rental for $100 less than anyone else, I am going to use them. we have alot planned and I don't want to run out of juice.
