Here is my plan, fly in to Orlando, stay a week at WDW and then rent a ca r to visit my mom 2 hrs south of Orlando for a week. I have to fly back out of Orlando to get a non stop back to my original airport. My question is, what car rental is at WDW and at Orlando airport so I can drop the car off?

Also, is there a car rental anyone recommends over another? Discounts ?

I know Alamo is, we picked up at MCO and dropped off at the Dolphin hotel. Id check in the transportation forum.

National, which owns Alamo, can also be rented at MCO and returned at the Dolphin or vice versa. We do this every time. We rent at MCO, drive to the Dolphin stopping at Publix on the way for breakfast supplies, snacks and drinks, then pull into the valet area of the hotel and the valet takes the car and hands us our receipt. On our last trip, the cost was $47, less than a cab and we had breakfast foods for the whole trip which was another huge savings over eating out.

There is also a National/Alamo place at the Buena Vista Place Hotel at Downtown Disney. It's right across from the bus stop for DTD so you can catch a bus to DTD and walk over. Disney has the main National/Alamo place and will come get you with a shuttle but you have to schedule a time. I have found it to be more flexible on time to use the DTD location. We have also used the Dolphin location which might make the most sense if you are staying at a EPCOT area resort.

As far as discounts, one thing I would suggest is to keep checking even after you reserve a car up until the day of rental. Sometime rates drop based on where the cars are needed, I guess. I've gotten better rates up to a few days before trip. You can just reserve the new one and cancel the old reservation.

A few days ago, I just got a full size rental for Easter without a discount code for 9.95 a day from National by picking up at a WDW location and dropping at MCO.

But sometimes there is a drop-off fee if you rent at WDW and drop off at MCO, because technically it's a one-way rental. I think it depends on where they need the cars. If you find a drop off fee for your dates, I'd just rent at MCO. Use DME both ways on your vacation, then just rent a car at MCO when you are finished with Disney. Then you can drop back at MCO after you go see your mom.
