renting a car vs. buses

Agreed. I always respect people who tend to give the positive and negative aspects of any decision. There is no right/wrong answer to renting a car versus taking the bus. Only opinions which people (myself included) freely share.

You know what they say:
There is no pixie dust in transportation.

Would you guys say the same thing to people staying at shades of green, though? $22 a day seems like so much money for parking. ($17 at the parks and $5 at the parking garage at SOG)

We had a car when we stayed at SOG, but that was when theme park parking was still included for SOG guests. Since that benefit has been taken away, I would think twice about having a car at SOG. Instead, I would seriously consider staying at a Disney moderate resort with the military discount.

We rented a car on the first trip with the kids when they were 11 months, turned 3 on trip and 5. We found the trams more difficult than the busses.

I didn't rent a car again until last Dec on a trip with just my youngest-now 11. I couldn't believe how close everything was-the bus rides seem so long. I LOVED having a car!

Parking at DHS & Epcot is generally close enough to walk. I only ever drove to MK at rope drop so I can't say how far the most remote spaces are. I found the AK lot to be the most remote but we were late arriving.

Thanks everyone! Good to hear some experienced opinions on this. Would have been great to have done driving on our last two trips. I think it would have saved us a ton of grief. You all are awesome!
