Renting a car in Orlando

Dollar had the best rates using the corporate code oi1054. It was a code I got on the "Orlando Magic Card" site. It says on the site that it saves 10%, but on our upcoming trip, the cost without the code is $260/week and with it it is $131/week. That's not chump change!

Dollar has never asked to see the Magic Card when checking in, but I print one out and carry it just in case. It's free to register so why not?

I tried that code and it worked! I got a quote of $160/week for a a compact car. Kevin's right though, they hammer you on the fees ($139).

I tried Priceline with the $14/day bid, and was denied for both a compact and economy. I'm wondering if the travel dates are just too far away for me to get a good rate (we're traveling in August).

I guess I'll just wait awhile. Do MCO rental car companies run low in August? How long should I wait to book a rental car?

Thanks for your help...

OK, reading this I am thinking I need to do more shopping for our rental.
DH and I are going down three weeks from today. Have a rental from Sun- wed. to/from MCO with all taxes it comes to around $145 I think for three days.
For Kristen and I our overnight rate for May 9th-10th- dropping off at the port for the cruise is $34, which I thought was pretty good, should I shop some more? Maybe I will try priceline

Always keep shopping for a better rate. :goodvibes If you decide to go the priceline route I would wait until much closer to your trip. Once you book through PL you can't cancel. Also, priceline does not allow one way rentals.

$34 is a decent rate for one day. :thumbsup2 Your Sun - Wed rental might be a little harder to find a deal. Typically rental car companies offer better rates for weekend rentals and or 5 day rentals. I'd spend some time over on the Transportation board. Usually when rates drop someone posts about it. :goodvibes Good luck. :thumbsup2

I got a great deal from Alamo when I went down last weekend. It was $49 for the entire weekend (could have been Thurs --> Sun) on any car. I got a premium car for $51 with tax for 3 days. It was awesome! :thumbsup2

Good one, I also got a premium car at Alamo for $40 (68 with the darn taxes)!! for 4 days at the beginning of May. Yeah!!! No Disney Transportation for me!!!!:drive:

I've used Priceline for renting a car twice and will definately go that route in the future. I found taking the shuttle to get to the off site car rental agency is a breeze because they pick up and drop off constantly since they want the business-plus you save a little extra as Kevin said.

The only thing you have to keep in mind is to give yourself extra time when returning the car so that you are not rushed in getting to the airport.
