We have never used a rental car before for our WDW trips, however, this time we are seriously considering it. Can anyone who has used a rental car before give us an idea of how much one costs? The per day amount, cost of mileage and etc. We are trying to decide if renting a car would be worth it or if just using a towncar service and the disney transportation would make more sense.

It depends when you are going, what size car you want, if you take the optional insurance, etc. Mileage should be free unless you are renting a larger van.

I suggest looking at www.mousesavers.com for codes that can lower the cost. If you belong to AAA there are some discounts.

The best thing to do is visit the different car rental sites and start putting in your information and get some idea of the prices.

It really depends on the situation and your needs. We are renting a car each way to and from the airport, using the Alamo desk at the Dolphin as our dropoff point. It's going to run us about $35 each way for a midsize car. If we were flying into MCO we'd probably pay a few dollars more for a town car, but we are flying into Sanford this time and a towncar from there would run us $200! :earseek:

Typically, a Compact or Economy car for 8-9 day trips costs me about $120-$160. The cost varies from year to year, season to season, and company to company.

For my upcoming trip I got a great deal - a Mid-Size car from Alamo for 9 days for $122. I used a discount code and an additional $20 off coupon from Sam's Club. The undiscrounted rate would have been about $150, which is still pretty cheap for a mid-size.

Keep in mind that there are 6 rental companies located in the MCO garage - Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, L & M, and National.Usually these companies cost a bit more than those off airport property both for the convenience factor and because they pay more rent.

But deals can be had. Check on MouseSavers.com regularly for dicount codes and tips, and check any warehouse clubs like Sams or Costco that you might belong to for thier coupons.

And remember that the major rental companies don't charge deposits or cancellation fees unless you cancel within 48 hours, so you can make reservations anc changes them several times if you need to whenever a better deal comes along.

We are getting an intermediate size car for about $18/day through National using the discount codes listed on mousesavers.com.
