I don't rent my points, and I've never used the dining plan, so when a friend recently asked me if it was possible to use the dining plan if you are renting points from someone, I thought, well, I guess I'll ask the DISboard members.

Is it possible for someone who is renting DVC points to use the Disney dining plan as well? Does the member who rents to that person have to arrange for the dining plan as well?

Clueless,

Julie

Yes.

Any additions like the Dining Plan will have to be made through Member Services by the owner. The renter will pay for the Disney Dining Plan during check-in at the resort.

Be sure your friend knows the dining plan has changed radically for 2008. It no longer includes an appetizer with the table service meal, nor does it include the gratuities -- both important features in previous years.

Here's a link to the DDP board FAQ on the 2008 plan: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1545287

Have them read the first post by Pumbaa. It not only gives most of the specifics, but it also contains links to various plan brochures from Disney Dining.

Even though the plan has changed, it may still work for their family. They'll just have to do the math for themselves because everyone's family composition and dining habits are different.

Thanks, guys. I've never understood the attraction of the dining plan, but I have a small family, and we've always used our DVC facilities for breakfasts, etc. So, it's helpful to be able to pass the information along. Apparently our friends really love the dining plan. I guess every person's experience is different. I'll let her know.

Thanks again.

Julie
