Does anyone know if a copy of the confirmation letter will suffice at check-in at AKV, or must I request the original from the DVC owner? Can I check-in on-line, or only the owner? If I do check-in on-line, will I need the letter at all? Thanks for any info you have! We did the 4+3 days special at BC 8-3/8-10 (I already checked in on-line!), then rented from here AKV 8-10/8-14.
 
The only thing I have ever needed to check in at any DVC was my photo ID. I usually have a copy of the confirmation but have never needed it. I would think the same would apply to a renter. I haven't had occasion to check in online yet but would imagine all you need is the confirmation number. someone who has done it can probably help you out with that info.
 
You can only do the online check in on the member website and you need the member ID to do that. The member could do it for you if you ask them and they agree. But you won't be able to do that checkin without the member giving you access.

If you are just checking in at the desk, you only need a photo ID.

As long as the DVC owner has placed your name on the reservation, you will only need a photo-id at check-in. If they have not done that (and shame on you if you haven't confirmed that with the owner), you are going to be out of luck whether you have the confirmation or not.
 
You can check-in through this link, it does not go through the member website:

If you already have the confirmation number or a copy of the confirmation letter, give that link a try now. You should be able to retrieve the reservation. Be sure to type and enter everything correctly. If you get the details back, you know you have a valid reservation and you will be able to check in online through that link once the 10 day mark arrives. If you don't get the reservation details back, it's time to call the owner and figure out what's going on.

Thanks for all the replies! Our name is on the confirmation letter and I did check at mydisneyreservations.com/dvc and all appears to be in order. It is more than 10 days out, so I can't check-in on-line yet, but it sounds like from the information you all have given me that I should have enough info to do so, and will not need to enter the owner's member #. Also, I added our flight info to our ME at BC, and the cast member on the phone said I could call DVC MS to add ME for our return trip from AKV, even tho I'm not the member. I told her I was under the impression (from these boards) that MS would not even speak to me. She replied that I had a "right to arrange ME" if my name is on the the reservation. I was suprised and forgot to ask for the MS phone #. She also said I could do it at a WDW Welcome Desk at the airport when we arrive on 8-3 since we don't stay at AKV until 8-10. It would be great if she is right. Has this worked for anyone...or not?

If MS will add ME for me, where do I find their phone #?

MS will only talk to the owner...the CM was mistaken. Just contact the owner to add ME to your reservation.
