rental stroller storage ?

I know this has been asked a million times, but I couldn't seem to find it. This year we have decided to rent a stroller in the parks instead of bringing our own. My DS4 is just to big for a umbrella stroller and we don't have his full size one anymore. In fact he doesn't use one at home. I never really paid atttention to the rental ones. I do know that they are different in different parks. Anyway, what is the storage like, I thought I read somewhere that there is very little storage. I was hoping that I could leave a small bag of non-valuables and a couple of water bottles with the stroller, will that work? If I have to, he could just hold a bag on his lap, I don't think he will mind, or just tie something to the handle. Just wondering so I know what kind of bag to bring.
