Rental question - do rented points retain 11 month priority window?

We are planning on renting/obtaining a transfer of points in a couple months, and I was writing to ask whether the transferred points retain the 11 month booking window at their particular resort? For example, I own at BLT, but want to rent AKV points. When I get my rental/transfer, will I be able to book out at 11 months at AKV, or, since I own at BLT, do I have to wait until the 7 month window to book at AKV? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, as long as those points will be good for use at the 11 month mark. You may need to bank the transferred points, depending upon your travel dates. Transferred points retain their home resort and use year.

Banked points can not be transferred, but transferred points CAN be banked.

Just so you know what to look for on the Rent/Trade board, renting and transferring are two different things. If a member is offering to rent points, that means they will make a reservation for you using their points and you will pay them for that reservation. They will own the reservation and you will have no access to it through Member Services. If a member is offering to transfer points, that means they will transfer points from their account into your account, making them your points.

To book in the 11-month home resort booking window, the only thing that matters is having enough home resort points in the same Use Year as your dates of stay in your account at the time you book the trip. You don't have to be an owner. A transfer of AKV points into your account allows you to book AKV in the home-resort booking window.

There have been multiple reports that you won't be able to see points you've transferred in your online account, so you'll have to call MS to make your reservation at 11 months.

Remember, too, that you cannot borrow transferred points. You can bank them or use the current year.
