Hi All,

We need to pick up a long term rental and need to keep the cost down. As such, we're looking at full-size cars that have the ability to fit 3 car seats and/or 2 car seats and a booster seat in the back.

Does anyone know any models of full-size cars which will do this? If it's "tight," that's fine, they just need to be able to safely fit.

Thanks!

That's going to be very difficult in a car. You're probably better off getting a van. In full-size cars (and remember that rental company's have delusions of grandure when categorizing cars) you probably wouldn't have room in the back seat to fit a booster seat between two car seats. Perhaps in a premium size but I wouldn't count on that.

Depends on what kind of carseats you have. Some are huge and some are not.
I personally would just get a mini van. Search out coupons and deals. You will be more comfortable in the long run and you will have more room to carry all of your items that go with your group.

After some more research I just found this:

It looks like it can be done (pics included). One of the car seats is different than what I have, but it may be doable according to this.

Other than this Chevy Impala, anyone familiar with other common rental cars which may work in the "large" category? Really trying to avoid any classes above that due to the cost (if at all possible).

As the previous poster noted it really depends on the carseat, they vary in width.
Alamo usually has Chevy Impala's as a full size care choice, it has a pretty wide back seat.

It depends on the car seats too. Narrow seats like a Diono Radian or Combi Coccoro would probably fit easily, but seats like the Graco Nautilus or an Evenflo Symphony would be more difficult.

We were posting at the same time....
Yes, it definitely can be done. May I ask what kind of carseats you intend to use? I know someone who had 3 carseats in a Toyota Corolla, which is a pretty small vehicle. She had pretty narrow carseats though.

The thing is when you rent a car you are only reserving a category, you have no idea what you'll actually get & even cars in the full size cateegory...the width of the backseat can vary considerably.
I totally get not wanting to rent a minivan, rates can be sky high but it may be your only option, unfortunately.

I would definitely check your seats width vs. the ones in the photo. DNiece(2) has the pink/flowered Britax, that is featured in the photo, in my mother's car and then an Evenflo one in her mother's car. The difference in width between the two is huge!
I know when I rented from Alamo in April (Fort Myers) about 75% of the full-sized cars were Impalas. So, if you rent from them, you probably have a decent chance of getting an Impala.

When thinking we were getting an Impala, ended up with a Fusion. I would recommend the upgrade to luxury and at least you will have trunk room. I watched rates and for four of us got the luxury two weeks out from Alamo, for $2.00 more a day.

What are you doing with all the strollers, luggage? Unless, one parent gets the rental and he other is on the Magic express. We have done that. I took the kids and older son picked up the rental.
