I Have been to the World 4 times and have always used the busses. Anyone out there rent a car for the week? How much better is it? Or, is it not worth the extra $$. It's me DH & DD traveling. Found what I think is a good deal so we are considering it. Thanks! :thumbsup2

I'd say it depends on whether you are OK with the busses. I can tell you that we started renting a car on our third trip and will never go without one again. We really hated using the busses - especially at the end of the night when the parks were closing. But, also when we wanted to go to another resort for dinner - we'd have to transfer at Downtown Disney to get the bus back to our resort. It just seemed to be a huge hassle. In addition, we like to take a day and drive over to Cocoa Beach, and stop at the local Publix and grab some snacks for the room. It's nice to have a car for the freedom of it.

I've always found that I can get a mid-size for about $100 for the week, so it's totally worth it to us. Watch on the Transportation Board here for the best coupons.

However, I won't say it saves much time. Parking in the lots and using the trams and walking into the parks takes some time... especially at MK where you have to park at TTC and then use the monorail or boat.

I rented through Advantage this past trip and ended up getting a mini van for $250 for ten days. It was awesome to have since we had four kids with us and a strolller. Getting on and off the Disney bus with kids and strollers can be a pain. We enjoyed having our own van and being able to go as we pleased, and never wait in line for a bus to come. We had annual passes so our parking was free, but that can get pricey if you don't have them.

Renting a car is good rather than taking a ride on a bus. The comfort of the family while traveling must be concede of course.

I think it depends on a couple of factors: are you staying on or off property, are you planning or wanting to visit the beach or other locations that would require the car, are you traveling with kids and all the gear they require?

we don't rent a car for Disney trips. we prefer prefer buses and know that part of taking Disney buses is long waits/standing going to/from the parks. we also had a plan as for who was in charge of what during bus rides (traveling with a then 14 month old we had the kiddo, a strollee and backpack the beginning and end of the day and often times at the end of the day we had bags of souvenirs to contend with).

We are staying on property at POR. I have never stayed there before and have heard so many mixed opinions on the busses. They shasre with POFQ, They don't share, its the worst for a moderate, its not that bad  Have no clue what to expect so that's why I'm considering it. The rates out of Orlando airport are like $369 for the week!

We always like having a car when we go to Orlando. That way, you can run to the mall, head over to I drive for a non-expensive dinner. Run to the pharmacy or Walmart for the thing you HAVE to have that you forgot, etc.
